I think this an absolutely appalling situation and cannot understand why this woman has been so vindictive and horrible towards you.
I would ensure that the Police do pursue the harassment allegation and that both Social services and Police liaise and realise that you have been a victim of a smear campaign. Whatever else you do , do not back down and withdraw the allegations this woman needs to understand that her actions are unacceptable and outside the law. Good luck , now you know , it must be a relief , if it were me having gone through all this , I would be questioning everyone I came into contact with and be going around the bend with worry .

but I've just found out that 2 years ago someone was spreading rumours about my sister & BIL over the way that they treated my nephew, saying that they were negecting him ......which needless to say is the furtherest thing away from the truth.

Anyway they reported the matter to the Police who then had a word with this person, and all rumours etc stopped immediately.

If you have household insurance that covers legal fees - I would threaten to sue her.

Sounds as if she needs medical help - either that or she is a "sick" individual!

I wonder if naming the other person as a witness is classed as attempting to pervert the course of justice also,which may be an offence.

One thing which really concerns me, is they are a school governor (Parent Governor), the lady from SS had already told me, it could well be someone connected with the school, as they obviously knew the right channels to go through and maintain their annonymouse status. I personally feel they have abused their position, they are supposed to be there to help liase with the Parents and the school, not cause problems.

I have been in touch with the LEA and provisionally asked for the proceedure to complain about a Governor, knowing full well that I can't without proof, but at least it will be information I may be able to act on later.

In a strange way it must be a weight off your mind to at least know who it is who has it in for you. I have never found out who it is that kept reporting me to ss, it's stopped now (touch wood!) but I do sometimes look at all my neighbours and think "was it you"

Good on you for trying to think one step ahead of this woman too, don't back down and please keep us updated with what happens.

At least you know something of what & who you are dealing with now, but I have to admit to curiosity as to why the hate compaign? Are you aware of having done something to upset this person, or maybe they have genuine (misplaced) concerns and think they are doing the right thing?

I hope the police etc are able to help you resolve matters, pelase keep us informed.

daziboo, please don't be tempted to make ANY allegations against this person directly. Just give the police, social services, etc. all the facts and let them investigate to find the individual who has been harassing you.

It is absolutely clear to me, from what you have said, that someone has a case to answer. Don't, for any reason, be tempted to prejudice that case by making direct allegations that you cant prove.

Do go and see a solicitor - you can get a free 1/2 hour consultation and many insurance policies provide free legal assistance on the phone.

As others have said, you need to fight back - just make sure your smart about it.
