All barefooted, no socks or anything as the floor is painted white too. Hubby was really wary of going barefooted as he has a dodgy toenail after having it took off as it was ingrowing and it has never grown back properly and didnt want it in any of the pics, but photographer reassured him it was rare feet are shown.

Thanks for all of the input, so im definitely decided on no shoes, jeans and the same coloured tops. Just not completely decided on the colour, will have a nose through the babies wardrobes tomorrow and check what they have and then see if me and sis have something that will compliment theirs.

  • We had a family pic done (mum, dad, us 23, 22 and 18) and wore white/cream tops and blue jeans - if you wear clashing clothes it distracts from the faces I think. But basically we matched but not exactly, because the styles of clothes were different.

One of my friends had some done in white tops & denim bottoms ranged from mum in a blouse, dad in shirt & 3 girls in t shirt, top & tunic, the bottoms were mostly jeans, but one girl wore a denim skirt & youngest was in dungerees.

Another had a whole nautical theme going on which worked very well, blue & white (but not denim) with splashes of red-one had red shoes, one a hair scrunchie, dad a red tie, another a scarf. That looked very good.

Take some toys for the baby, they will have things, but be nice to have own things too. Enjoy it, I'm sure your mum will love it (& it'll be lots of fun)
  • I have worked in a photographers who take these pictures.

In general dark colours and bright colours work best. White tends to fade into the background. Denim looks great so dungarees, denim skirts, jeans.

And definately go barefoot. It gives the photos a more casual look.

    oh and denim jeans
  • What about denim with pale blue tops. I like the idea of wearing a little splash of red....socks, hair bunches, scarf etc.

Having been to Venture I would say bright coulours, esp on young kids, they tend to have pale skin already so pastel colours just get washed out. If you have the cash venture is amazing but local photographers will always try and copy ideas you show them, personally where i stay they aren't as good but that depends on your taste. Also I would bring your mum along, after all its not a family photograph without her!
  • i ve had 2 lots of pictures done over the last couple of years with white backgrounds and definately agree with barefeet and darkish denim trousers. for the first one we had red tops and the second dark pink. The red looks absolutey stunning against the blue with the white backgorund. the pink also looks great but probably not as suitable for boys.

Wow, more fab ideas thanks. My mum absolutely hates having her photo done so wouldn't want to be inn photo & we wanted to give her one of the four of us to put in her living room in her new house. Her living room is white with a turquoise sofa so perhaps that could be an idea for the colour t-shirts although not sure if we all have turquoise-y tops?
