Make a savoury cheese pie by frying up up lots of chopped onions or leeks (and a few sliced mushrooms if you have some.). Stir into the mash with a handful of strong grated cheddar cheese, put into a dish, sprinkle some more grated cheese on the top and bake in the oven until the surface is nice and crispy.

Make corned beef hash by frying onions & mushrooms and mixing into the mash with some corned beef which has been mashed and forked into the mixture. Turn into a frying pan and fry until crispy brown on both sides. Serve with a dash of Worcester sauce and a green vegetable.

Mix in some cooked fish, make into round patties, coat in eggy breadcrumbs and make fishcakes. Fry until brown.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. They all sound yummy. Anyone got a recipe for tattie scones? X

A recipe is not really needed as all you do is add flour to make a dough. But try this:

This is one of my favourite recipe sites for when I'm looking for something different. A lot of the recipes are very OS/MSE!

There a few cake recipes that use mashed spuds (may depend on how you cook/prepare your spuds though).
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

Roll out a ball of mash around the size of a ping pong ball dip in flour ,beaten egg then roll in either grated cheese or dry sage and onion stuffing mix pressing the outside coating in so it stays on and open freeze on a plate .Bag up when frozen and when you want to cook just put on a tray in the oven.makes lovely savoury potato balls which taste really nice and are a change with sausages and a tin of baked beans for the kids .I used to do this to streeeeetch meals back in the 1970s when things were tight to say the least with a mortgage rate of 15% food had to be almost elastic.

Another thing you can do with frozen mashed potato is to let it thaw and mix in some gently soaked sage and onion stuffing. When made into little rissole shaped cakes and fried until crispy brown, they make a tasty and inexpensive supper dish served with some vegetables.

You could pipe it onto a baking tray merangue style and bake them on high heat for about 30 mins. Think it's called Dauphinoise spuds.

Not sure what they are called but they're not dauphinoise. Dauphinoise: sliced raw potato layered an in roasting dish, pour over cream, top with cheese and bake. Yummiest, richest, creamiest potato recipe. Awful for the waistline. :rotfl:

Whatever they're called, these baked piped mash potatoes sound yummy though!
