Based on a confirmed delivery by the courier company, or via a required customer activation call?

    Thanks,

Phones4u letter indicates the phone will be connected within 48 hours of them receiving confirmation that it has been delivered.

Oh and on subject of different ways of operating - they also send out returns form and details with the phone so you do not end up in a muddle if you change your mind. And to date I only tried to send one phone back to dialaphone (took a while to get through but they were happy to have it back) - only I changed my mind on phone and kept it - good job too best phone ever k810i.
  • Hi,

Contracts start when the phone is connected, which must be done prior to despatch. I'm afraid this is just the way it is. Any other way would lead to chaos with Cashback claim timing, returns periods, billing systems etc etc.

    Regards,

Bummer! - But thanks for replying anyway Ben.
I was expecting to have 'activate' the phone especially with it being a relatively expensive handset - but each company is different I guess and at least I have the phone now.;)
  • Thats just standard, it would be same if you walked into a shop and took out a contract

LOL - what to walk out of the shop and have your account activated but without a phone for a couple of days!
Online I can kinda understand... but not off the highstreet

Certain networks, including Orange, apply a "transit bar" to handsets sold via a Distance channel which the customer must phone up and remove prior to use, as a precaution against intercepted or otherwise misrouted goods. However this is simply a security issue and doesn't affect the date of connection.
