Contract date timings - Query

Hello all

Quick query (maybe)

Received my new Orange contract phone on Monday 11th Jan, and contacted Orange on Thurs 14th to get my number from T-mobile ported.
Got my first bill from them today (Sat 16th) - Bit hot off the mark I thought but hey...
BUT...
According to Orange my contract with them started on Saturday 9th Jan - which was the day the phone was dispatched.

How do I stand with demanding a change in dates with Orange as I didn't have the phone on the 9th & 10th!

Thoughts please.

    Hi dolphins,
For a couple of days it's not worth the hassle.
The problem is that the instructions to Orange comes from mobiles.co.uk so you would have to go through them first to get it changed.
It's not just about the money

The contracts through mobiles.co are connected on the date they dispatch - its part of their t&c see. Importantly if you have entered a cashback deal, that connection date becomes a bit more important.

Surely thats against DSR baring in mind that you can't pay for something before you own it and you need 7 working days to cancel, yet if the contract starts on a non working day it limits how long you have... if you get what I mean...

Either way - Awww pants - ok only 2 days but its the principle

    Hi,

Contracts start when the phone is connected, which must be done prior to despatch. I'm afraid this is just the way it is. Any other way would lead to chaos with Cashback claim timing, returns periods, billing systems etc etc.

Strange then how other, much better companies manage just fine with cashback when they dont connect until after receipt. No such thing as "must" and "chaos with cashback timing" with them. But, of course, they are an honest company.

    Regards,

Most of contracts I have had with phones4u/dialaphone have started one day after dispatch of phone (and I have been o2, t-mobile and vodafone). CPW I have known are different :D.

It's actually in their t&c (Phones4u/Mobiles2yourDoor). They won't connect normally until they have confirmation of receipt.
