Is this a good alternative to Tiscali?

  • as far as I can see, I'm not tied into any contract. I wasn't on a contract with Tiscali and my Talk Talk letter says, on the back:

    'What do I need to do?' - If you would like to keep your existing service, you don't need to do anything and your price will change to that stated overleaf (ie £9.99 to £14.99).

    'Will my contract dates change?' - No, not if you stay on your current package. However, if you choose to register for a new package, you will be subject to a new contract.

    So.........anyone who 'does nothing' will not be put onto an 18 month contract, they will just stay with however long they have left on their old contract, or not have a contract at all (as I have)..... or am I wrong?

    WARNING+++++WARNING

    I have in the last few days received a letter from Talk Talk day as I
    am at present a Tiscali customer I will be moved to the talk talk £18.49 tariff as 0f 15th Feb 2010.
    Talk Talk minimun contract 18 MONTHs you are tied with no way out if they sign you up as a Brand New customer tiscali or no tiscali

    If like me you are a Tiscali customer in contract, about to come out of contract or still have tiscali contract to run BE CAREFUL!!!!! VERY CAREFUL let Talk Talk move you then there will be no break in your contract with Tiscali/Talk Talk. I have just had a phone call out of the blue 18.01.2110 13.40 some Talk talk rep wanting me to sign up. I asked if this anything to do with the letter (mentioned above) he had'nt got a clue what I was on about. So do not commit to anything on the phone email etc untill you know the in's and out's and hard facts first.
    For the record the Talk Talk package is £4 more than my basic Tiscali set up but the talk talk freebies make up for the increase, still a 40gb cap by TT ,unlimited use under Tiscali.
    Good luck;)
  • what Talk Talk freebies do you mean?

    The freebies I speak of are part of the TT package as aposed to my current tiscali.
    IE Talk Talk Local/Eve/weekend calls free. 0870/0845 free Free Local Calls at anytime. £18.49 Inclusive of line Rental
    Tiscali gave me free Line Rental free and free Weekend calls, evreything else is paid or and,...... I my add quite highly priced.!!!!!!

    The Talk Talk site sets it out. My original post I stand by. So if you go with the flow and let Tlk Talk take you there, you will not enter into new contract. I am out of Tiscali contract since Nov 09 but do not WANT ! 18 MONTH CONTRACT ROUND MY NECK. Tread carefully and DO SIGN anything unill you have the facts and or in writing from TT

    PS I Thinik there is a 7 day cooling of period with tt but again check.
    ;)
