Sky 'Magic Eye'...

Do any of you know how these things work?
I'd like to be able to watch Sky in the bedroom without paying for the multiroom, another £10 a month, who needs it eh!
Does this Magic Eye thing require a lead going from one tele/box to another? Or is there a way to do it through infra red or something simple that doesn't involve an ugly wirw going from one room to another?
I'm sure someone on here will know the answer!
Thanks

Hi we had a magic eye from the main sky box to my son's room. Someone installed it and it worked fine the only thing was that we had to watch whatever he was watching. We dont watch much tv so it was ok. Our tv went on the blink a few weeks ago and my son took the tv from his room downstairs while we were away on holidays. Now he has taken the tv back up to his room but cannot get the magic eye to work. Can anyone please tell me in simple terms what has to be connected and to what? Thanks anyone.

I'm not bothered if we have to watch the same channel on both tele's. I just want to be able to watch it in bed/morning when you can;t be bothered to get up!
I just want to know about the cable lead situation...0 -
You take the second rf output from the sky box and feed it, via a coax cable, to the Magic Eye. This then goes to the second TV. A Sky remote pointed at the Magic Eye will then change the channels as required on the Sky box.
It needs to be cabled as power travels down the coaxWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
Oh we'll leave it then, don't need the hassle of geting a cable from one room to another.
cheers0 -
You need a 'video sender'...........this will transmit the sky picture to the other room/tv and change the channels.
You Dont need a seperate tv eye with this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5347926/Trail/searchtext%3EVIDEO+SENDER.htm- £26.49

Thanks that looks like more what we're looking for. The only thing I can't work out from that link is how you change channels?
Would you have to keep going to the other room (where the Sky box is) to change channel in the bedroom?0 -
It'll change channels ........thats what this bit means: ''IR system Technik remote relay system'' You just point the remote control at the video sender box in your bedroom.
Ofcourse you will need another remote control.......unless you can be bothered carrying it from room to room. (they cost about 15 quid and are widely available).Oh what's the bloody point...?0 -
Hi Nord, Thanks for all your info you seem really knowledgable. Could you please tell me until we get one of those boxes why the magic eye is not lighting up at all now since my son disconnected it and took the tv back to his room. We had a dvd connected to the television in the living room before the tv went kaputz and my son has disconnected that and taken the dvd player up to his room. The magic eye does not light at all now and he has to keep coming down the stairs and changing all the channels and recording. Do I need a new magic eye or has he disconnected something. He said he has the second rf connection connected with a coax cable to the magic eye. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, taffy0

Ive never had a magic eye myself.....just a video sender.
You could try googling your question?
Heres a link to a site that has information about magic eyes not working:

Have you ever looked at the 'hidden' Installer Menu on your Sky Box?
Check that the RF Outlet Power Supply is still set to on (it may have powered off?).
Details of how to access the Installer Menu are in the link above.Oh what's the bloody point...?0
