I asked the same, as I like to buy the text packs. Apparently its not a hole in system - obviously if you buy a £15 text pack and they counted that £15 you would only qualify the week you bought the pack. So instead they spread the benefit out by counting each text used from the pack at the standard tariff rate.

Looking forward to using my free calls & text from 7.30pm tonight! They've sent me a text saying i qualified. Gonna rinse it.

It is in the terms and conditions that text packs and voice packs will be deducted from the £5.00 qualifying spend at your normal price plan rate. I am wondering how many people are taking up this offer and if the network will grind to a halt. I am hoping not.
