Council tax and 2nd person

Thankyou to everyone on this thread for all the info here

Also this Customer Information System that the LA can look into and see a persons dla details does that mean they can see the details of why you get it and all the personal info or just that you are on it. Unless the customer service details are not up to date for me because she did say the only thing they had on me was that I'm on income support. I just don't like the idea that my personal details can be logged into by any LA employee
Just to add onto fluffymovies post regarding the LA viewing the CIS system, not all LA employees are allowed to see it, its only for the benefit section or fraud section so for eg Bill the gas fitter will not have access“You’re only here for a short visit.

Is it possible that the reason they want the payslips is because the OP is in receipt of DLA and IS which makes me think they'll be getting the severe disability payment on their income support, this will be lost if someone moves into the OPs house.0

Thats good to know that all LA emplyees can't access the customer information system, just not sure why she didnt use it as she was a supervisor.
She wanted the letter signed by myself too, to say what date daughter moved out of old house and what date here. I'm going to ring back to ask if they want a breakdown of all my benefits or if just a simple letter from dla to confirm I'm on the care componant will do. She did say she did no longer require wage slips from my daughter for this just the dla proof.
I don't know if the dss may want daughters wage slips or any details. I have just given them the info that shes moved back here and I fully expect them to now take off the sdp as it was awarded only if I was living on my own. The man who answered the phone at income support said my benefits would not change but I did stress to him that I thought the sdp should be stopped now and I didnt want them to make a mistake and then me end up having to pay a lot of money back to them at a later date. He just said he would pass it on to the department that deals with itThanx

It all depends what rate of dla care they are on as to whether they get a severe disability premium on their income support, and yes, good point, if lady_k is on middle or high rate care then needs to look at if she gets a severe disability premium and inform the DWP if her daughter moves in.0 -
They have sent me 2 forms from dwp, one for the sdp although I've had a letter with amended benefits removing it. I suppose they will be checking that I'm not classed as technically living alone by filling that in just in case I might still be eligible. The other one just asking the name and dob of the person moving in and relationshop to me, they highlighted the info they wanted on the form and the amount she earned was not highlighted si it has not been filled in, this must be because it is irrelevant as I am on the dla care. They wanted to know if the person was going to pay me rent or money for food but I don't think it counts anyway because of the dla again I think. My housing has not been effected either.
Now I have this letter from dwp I can use that to prove my dla for the council tax because it does state the amounts disreguarded for dla mobility and care and from those amounts they should know I'm on the higher rate care? it doesnt actually say what level just the amount. Will the council have to scan that letter or will they just note that am on the dla care from seeing the letter? I don't really like all my personal info going through the council system if its not necessary as it has my national insurance number on and my benefits, they only need to know about the dla don't theyThanx

Councils want all the information they can get when it comes to council tax benefit....We've just been turned down and they wanted every reciept my husband had ever had for his business and within two weeks...The photocopied a lot of our stuff though and gave us back the originals then and there.
I noticed from your first post that you are on SDA. It isnt means tested so i would have thought that having your daughter there would make little difference. I know I got SDA when i lived with my parents including my mum later on in life and she had pensions.0 -
I am no longer on sda they have taken it off since she moved in and I doubt it will be put back on again because it seems that unless the 2nd person is disabled themselves you lose your sda even if the person is moving in to help with your care needs. If they are disabled as well they say you are technically living alone so can keep itThanx

Strange my husband was earning a year and a half ago and when i rang them and told them i was moving in with him they never took me off....When they reinstated it last year they knew i was married, admittedly my husband isn't earning at the moment but tehy hadn't changed anything.0 -
I dont understand how it works really I'm just going from info I picked up on the net about it, maybe they made mistake in your case. Didnt they send you forms to fill in at the time? I hope it works out that I do get it back but from the things I have read it doesnt seem likely unless of course she moves out again. She will not be claiming carers allowance for meThanx

It's a non means tested benefit....Ironically they told me when i left work at the end of 08 that i wasnt entitled and to go back to work basically which looking for work made me so much more porrly and has set me back months, but i found out in august that I was still entitled and should have been put back on it in Janaury under the linking rule. I fought for it and got it reinstated. It took a fair bit of my health but it was worth it as it was backdated because a customer service person had made an error on the phone in January telling me i wasn't entitled...
May be worth ringing you local CAB for advice as they were the ones who helped me in the end and they rang the benefits lot as I couldn't manage to keep ringing them any longer..0
