I've just had a galactical sparkle of inspiration (sorry for the pun) My son had a space party (peppa pig and george have a lot to answer for!!!!) and i went to this site www.freenameastar.com and named a star for each child

It cost a few pence not to have the advertisers details on it but you could print them out on some nice parchment for each guest and it would be personalised to them. It would cost a bit of time ink and paper. You could tie the scrolls with lovely ribbon ect for the ladies and plain black for the men.

Just an idea for something different

I am getting married 13th Feb (4 weeks to go aagh!) and got some lovely heart shaped marshmallows, jelly beans and foil covered chocs in m & s today - cost me about £14 to fill 70 organza bags and the bags were about £5 off ebay. Mine have a date of May, suggestions I would make for June is wait til they are selling off all the chocs from easter (mini eggs etc) and those lovely wrapped lindt eggs, as you usually get about 3 months date on chocs.

Also TK MAXX had red pink and white jelly beans really quite reasonable if you wanted to add a few more little bits x

  • I used sugared almonds in mine, about 4 per person, and used little cake bags tied with curling ribbon - dead cheap but effective - wish I'd know about the cookie idea though, fab! (would the sticks not push in when the biscuits were brought out of the oven? before cooling and hardening?) I was given a basket of flowers when I got engaged, and used that basket for the favours, my bridesmaids went round at the meal and handed them out. I decorated the basket with the same ribbon, and had kept some of the greenery from the engagement bouquet to add to the final effect!

I got some organza bags from ebay, about £6 for 120. Whatever we decide to fill them with they'll work out cheaper than 50p each.

in my local store they have other templates as well ie like the chest one above. so you buy the template and then the card and make them - great as this means you can also personalise them as well :) then fill with cheap chocs/sweets, make some treats or a little soap each or whatever matches with your theme. the cost is £2.99 for the templace, £4.99 for 70 sheets of card and then you just need some double sided tape or glue so for under £15 approx you will have the boxes so leaves you tons of money to fill them with treats. also means you can do different gifts for different people - ie put different things in for the kids.

otherwise if you have some spare espresso cup sets at home and get some more cheap plain ones (t k maxx, etc) then turn each one into a homemade candle and then tie the persons name onto a special tag onto the handle so its a favour and a name tag all in one.
