titch2k6, the OP doesn't mention part time wages. That's why no-one's bothered to tell him about the intricacies of mortgage direct ... because what affects you doesn't affect him.

Can't get your figures to stack up. By my reckoning there's a £56 pw discrepancy somewhere ... so either they've got the wrong amounts for your partner's part time work, you've got another income you haven't mentioned or you're getting more deducted off your benefit than you say (in addition to your water rates) or some combination of the three.

You'll need to phone them tomorrow to get a complete breakdown of how they've worked it out.

i dont think the attitude in your reply was required,do you?

    What attitude?

I was simply stating some facts. There was no attitude put into my comments and if you read an attitude through what I wrote, then that is your miss-interpretation of my comments.

The discrepancy is due to some extra hours, and hence a little extra in her wage, my partner has been working at the moment to try and help keep the familiy's head above the proverbial water..............

Your posts are coming across as rather abrupt - upper case and bold typing tends to be used when shouting.

Have you notified the DWP that her hours/ income has now decreased?
    Gone ... or have I?

    That's fair enough.

But you're supposed to tell them if her wages go up, her wages go down, so they either try to average them out if they can or simply amend the figures from month to month.

So it's not really a mortgage problem is it ? It's varying part time wages which are causing the problem.

I get IS and the amount has not changed since I was awarded help with my mortgage. It's shown on my paperwork but is paid direct (very late according to abbey!)
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

Mortgage direct is paid by DWP four weekly in arrears, which week you slot into depends on your national insurance number. Because it's paid four weekly, the payment date changes every month.

Abbey know that, they signed up for the scheme years ago.

  • Please be gentle with me, am new to this!

I have today received same letter as posted by Jammy86 on 14/1/2010.

Can anyone help clarify if the mortgage interest amount will or will not be "deducted" from my Jobseeker's allowance? I do not work at all, obviously not through choice but I mention this because I understand this would change payments of course.

I also appreciate that all the posts on here seem to be from 2010, so things may have changed since then. Any help would be gratefully received.

    Regards.

I've received the same letters today.

The letter regarding the mortgage states that £43.61 will be deducted from my allowance every week.

The letter regarding my JSA states that my weekly allowance will change from £67.50 a week to £64.50 a week due to a change in deductions and a change in the cost of where I live.

I don't know why my JSA has dropped to £64.50 as I've not been on it for 6 months yet, only 3, but I only just completed the mortgage benefit procedure.

If it's dropped to £64.50 a week and that's what I'll get after they've paid the mortgage, that's fine. If they're going to take the £43.61 off that, that will leave me with less than £21 a week for everything else as I have no other income and no other benefit.

If they're paying all of the interest and I still get the £64.50 a week, I wonder if I'll still be able to contribute as mine is a repayment mortgage rather than an interest-only mortgage.

If I get any casual or part time or freelance work meanwhile, they'll let me have the first £5 a week, then they start to deduct that too from my benefit. At this rate, I'll be paying them.

Can anyone please clarify as the offices will be shut now until Wednesday and it will be a shock to my bank account if I only get £21.

    Ta muchly.
