Just a word of warning for anyone on LHA / CTB or HB. Although the rates don't increase until 12 April 2010, it is a standing regulation that we can update claims wef 1st April. This may mean that your payments of Incapacity benefit for example may not increase for a couple of weeks but we have to amend your claim from 1st April

Could you clarify which scenario is correct please, 'can' does not mean the same as 'have to'.

The LHA rate increases every month??

Because ive checked my council's website and the LHA website a few times over the last few months, but my area's rate has remained the same.

No, it's reviewed every month, it can increase or decrease.

Do they publish the monthly rate changes on the LHA website though?
Or is it only if you request the data?

we have to update from the 1st. Your applicable amount change from this date also so you shouldnt actually see any difference in the amount of hb/ctb you receive

it will only change on your 12 month anniversary. or if you have a break of a week in your claim.

it might not actually change at all.

    Ah thanks.
Ive looked and the rate for the time i claimed was £360 per week.
However its now only £355 per week.
(Ive just looked at bank account and ive still been getting the £360 rate)

But so when its the 12months anniversary of my claim will they try 'backdating it', and so giving me a huge bill of £5 x those 52 weeks??:huh:
