I have just had a new hard drive put in my laptop, and now unable to connect to the internet wirelessly.
At first it kept saying "unable to renew IP address", and now it connects for 1 or 2 seconds, then disconnects.
I am no expert on computers so any help will really be appreciated!!
Thanks!

Will it connect using ethernet? If so, it's just a wireless issue. Have you re-entered the correct encryption key, and what level of encryption are you using?
Make/model of your wireless router? Your ISP?No free lunch, and no free laptop

It doesn't seem to be able to connect using ethernet cable (I have plugged it in and it doesn't do anything...do I need to do anything else?). The computer I am using now is connected wirelessly to the same router.
How do I find the level of encryption? etc? Make of the router is Thomson. TG585 V7.0 -
Right, so it's not a problem with the router, at least not on the wireless side.
Assuming you have a wireless laptop, can your wireless adaptor 'see' the network you are trying to connect to (right click on the wireless connection manager icon in the taskbar)? Then look at the networks available, select your own and enter the correct encryption key.
Are you on O2 or Plusnet?
Are you sure you haven't switched off the wireless function on the laptop? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I would - in my opinion - resolve the Ethernet connection first of all, and only then move on to the wireless setup. Sure, you have a new OS I understand, but can you log back in to your router's settings page?0 -
I am on Plusnet.
The wireless is turned on.
The hard drive has been replaced and I think everything on the computer has been reloaded!0 -

It sounds like you need to download and install the motherboard drivers e.g. LAN, Wireless, etc.
Check on the manufacturers website. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
