another thing im thinking is to buy a sofa from scs on 0% intrest over 3 years which works out at (with the 2 sofas and £50 delivery) at £26 a month of which il only be paying £13 because me and the misses will be halves, ill get the credit rating for this aswell,

does anyone disagree with the sofa plan

You may have the same issues.

It's not about how credit worthy you are, or if you can pay, the issue is you have very little record so you are an unknown risk. Credit companies don't like unknowns, if you were a poor risk in some cases that's better, they'll price accordingly (or require a deposit) but with no record they have nothing to go on, so it's easier to reject you than take the risk. Please understand it's almost certainly down to the fact that you are an unknown risk nothing to do with your income, ability to pay or level of savings.

You need something to start the credit record going, and show you can manage credit nothing more.

The only issue is if you apply for anything on credit you get searches made and recorded on your file. Too many searches in a short time and they may think your desperate for credit and that can work against you.
