For the Japanese imports, one possible explanation is they're cars that were stolen/recovered and/or crashed in Japan, then imported over here and repaired on the cheap.

Cars tend to lose their history when they're imported, so this is an easy one to pull off.
  • DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!

Seriously, I bought an smax , drive it home and noticed it felt abit funny on the clutch, my husband noticed the same, also it want taxed and I didn't think to ask, so I called them in the Monday an they said they would send me the v5, as we px and didn't have mine they wanted it first!
I read the warranty and it said car must be serviced every whatever and as it want I took it in and got it done and also asked them to look at the clutch.
What I got back after paying 150 was that the fly wheel needed replacing, also the breaks needed doing and a couple of other bits, so I called and they were cool about it, just said could I take it to a cheaper garage than the Honda one where I got it fixed at. I agreed but then they said take it back to them, they are an hour and a half away. I agreed and took it, waited a week and heard nothing. So my husband rang, and was told it was fine. They then gave him the mechanics no, who said the same. When challenged he admitted that the breaks were a problem. I know the fly wheel needs doing too. They wouldn't get it done so I complained to trading standards and we told them that. They promptly offered our money back. We didn't want the money just the car to be fixed but no chance. They then started not calling back, and as we had their "courtesy car" when they finally answered I told them I wasnt taking it back as it really is a death trap, an 02 Volvo, it is scary, they said we can't get our cash back. We asked them for the money for tax and also the service money back which he laughed about! So we're in catch 22 he wants his car, we want our money he sai if we go over he will drop us at the station! How kinda and more expense! Arrrrrgh!

Seriously though, buy from them if you want to be rideculed

I was just about to make a trip over to this outfit tomorrow to test drive/buy a new motor and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread. It was an hours drive so I'm glad I won't be wasting my time heading over there now.

I'm really sorry to hear about the members caught out by this outfit, but if its any consolation, you're experiences have ultimately saved me and others like me thousands.

Thanks for taking the time to give your experiences.

My heart sank when I saw another reply to this thread pop up right in the middle of the Christmas hols.

Great to hear it's someone posting before they go there.
  • Never, and I say NEVER, buy a car from Keighley Trade Centre. I bought a car from them and I went into the hell:
    - Always problems
    - They will not fix the car
    - They will be very very very rude and shout at you: "Go! Call your solicitor"
    - You will buy a car for £2500 and then you will spend other £1500 to remake the engine!

    Beware!!!!!!

    From their website.

'We have contacts to source any car you require,so if you have a particular vehicle specification in mind, please contact us.'

But yet the dealers on here will tell you these people don't exist or only trade for a few weeks from a portakabin on an old car park.

These guys are an excellent reason why you shouldn't put any more faith in a dealer sourced car than a private one. The benefit being you should have a bit more legal protection if it does go wrong.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Glad this popped up on the main page today. KTC were on my list of ‘possibles’ to visit so am glad I’ve done my research first. If they were closer to me I’d do abit more digging as well…
  • Everyone should avoid that shop. They will just waste your money and time. Please tell to everyone not to be fooled by the low prices.....after 2 weeks the car will cost 1000 pounds more to repair!:mad::mad::mad:. We are opening a website to protest: keighleytradecentre.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
