I have no willpower when it comes to food!!!!!:o:o:o
Though once all the food in the house is eaten - you only buy what you need from the shops to save money and strech everything with lentils and extra veg - and you start losing weight because you don't want to buy anymore food!
Then you discover how frugle it is to bake your own cakes and put it all on again! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Hi guys,
Just been into the depths of my freezer!!:eek::eek: I've gone where no man has gone before!!:rotfl:
Just a quick question, how long is food ok to keep frozen food for?? I've got absolutely heaps of frozen chicken, salmon, mince, steak etc!! OMG, it's an absolute disgrace!! I've thrown away all the prawns as know they can be a bit dodgy, and have read on the back of the other packaging 'use within one month'........most has been in my freezer alot longer than that!!
Does anyone have a golden rule for freezer food stuff??
Cheers!

If it was bought frozen or went into the freezer absolutely 100% fresh then meat should be ok although there may well be freezer burn.
If the meat was 'on the turn' and you put it in the freezer to save it, chuck it out. If you have any doubts, chuck it out. Proper food poisoning can be very unpleasant indeed. In fact it can kill you although isn't very likely to.
Personally, I wouldn't keep 'uncertain' mince. You hear a lot of horrible stories about mince and it's hardly expensive.0 -
Hi Button, most of the stuff in my freezer has been there a lot longer than a month and i use it with no problems. I would say up to six months on most things would be fineCredit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

I agree with chucking the prawns but with meat I would use to whenever really. Some of mine will have been in there a LONG time. Now someone correct me if I am wrong but if you eat it even years later then surely there wouldnt be a health issue with meat as long as you cook it properly only that it might not taste so good?Mortgage Aug 2014£185000 Mortgage Today £167012

I'd eat it all!To be honest I've never paid any attention to how long things are in my freezer. If it looks alright and smells ok once defrosted then I'll cook it
P.S. My mum always told me that if food was in the freezer too long it would get freezer burn and then not to eat it. But to be fair I wou;dn't know what freezer burn looked like!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

It's where meat isn't sealed in something imperiable to water before it's frozen. The meat gets dehydrated.
Basically that's what your liver looks like if you drink too much ;-p0
