Is it just me that would be doing all I could to be there - it may seem trivial to one person but this is the initial stages of a MURDER TRIAL for A CHILD!!!!
If on the day you can't make it fine - but I'd be doing all I could to be there... you must have something in place for your child already to be looked after - especially this far along in pregnancy...
what are your plans if there are complications and you are kept in hospital for weeks? My mum was in for 2 days before my arrival (actually she was in active labour for the duration...) and a week after due to complications... I was lucky - only kept in for 3 nights after delivering....
I could understand it if this was a minor offence or a lesser offence - but the alledged murder of a child??????DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

As per my original post, this is not a murder trial, that trial is later this year. This is a civil court case regarding the care of another child.2010 resolutions1- get my 5yo DD dry daytime, with enuresis help dry since 12th Jan so far!

In the criminal side of the business you can ask for "special measures" to be imposed such as the use of screens separating you from the other party while giving evidence or you could give evidence via video link if you are deemed to be particularly vulnerable. I don't know if the same can be done in terms of screens - civil courts don't tend to have video link equipment. Whether the case will go on without you will dpend on how important whichever side feels your evidence will be. I would get a doctors paper saying that you are unable to attend court until after the birth - but it must say unable to attend court not unable to attend work0

I'm not concerned about the criminal case and giving evidence, I know how official that will be. Probably sounds odd I know, but also I won't be pregnant then, I feel abit vulnerable having this huge lump on me
I have also had plenty of notice of that happening, which helps i think!
I spoke to social services who are the people wanting me to attend next week, and they have said a doctors note is fine, and I have one. I have emailed her a scan picture of the doctors letter and have posted them the original recorded delivery.2010 resolutions1- get my 5yo DD dry daytime, with enuresis help dry since 12th Jan so far!

I agree that the way they have contacted you and the timing is pretty poor.
I hope the doctor's letter sorts things out.0
