the tv stayed on after a program i was watching, the ensuing program was about folk in debt management programs etc and had martin talking about vorderman. the site was mentioned so i had a nosey through the usual cheapest electric stuff etc, then saw the claim back charges thing, from that i hit the link to the forums then i joined...
up till this point despite knowing of my debts i never accepted them as debts, i guess i thought that having bailiffs at the door was the line where your in 'trouble' with money rather than just owing money. even now i don't see myself living in the poor house, i'm just balancing on top of the poverty line!0 -
About 3 years ago started taking advantage of credit card offers to get rid of a loan I had. I started watching/listening finance related programs and about 2.5 years ago I saw Martin on a TV program. This is where it all started, from just an amateur I moved to the professional league!
But there's still a lot to learn! Thanks Martin.

First heard Martin on Jeremy Vine's show on Radio 2 last October/November time, and haven't looked back. Was floating around for 5 months before first posting."I will be debtfree":p0

I googled "Freebies" and came across a link to the freebies site you get on the weekly email. I signed up for the weekly email at the beginning of 2005 but did not join the forum till February 2006 (even though I'd occasionally looked) when I read Moozie's thread. I had to join up to offer her words of encouragement.
Then I got hooked didn't I? So glad though......

I Googled "how to live on nothing" or "living on a £5 a week" or something like that when I was really skint and looking to stretch my food budget. I found a post in DFW, then started poking around the main site. And I haven't looked back since!0

I found this sight a year ago when a company I used to work for fluffed up big time and a customer mentioned to me how much of a big discussion there was about it on the MSE website. See the infamous thread below and I'm sure you'll understand...
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=73244&highlight=mcKinley Some peoples experience truly was shocking and I'm embarrassed to admit that I worked for diy.com. Thankfully not there anymore though!
From the first day, I was hooked and have read it every day since. The main board being the DFW board. I find some members on here truly inspirational and its been such a big help to me since I graduated last summer and entered the 'real world' with the usual student loans/CC's and OD's. I'm glad to say much of it has been paid off and I'm looking forward to becoming debt free because without this site, I'm not sure I would have been able to find a way out or at least not anywhere as soon as it will be!
And thats my story so far...0 -
