A work friend of mine sent me the money tips email about a year and a half ago.
I read and lurked for a while and then decided to join in.
She's a star for sending me that email. First step towards a whole new way of thinking and a new life.0 -
I saw the site giving a big plug on a parenting forum and thought hell I am in debt and whilst I am on the comoputer it cant hurt to look and 3 hours later was still reading.
Infact I had dreams about claiming money back form all sorts of places, really weird.0 -
I think I found it from a link at The Motley Fool... although I also would have bought Martin's book a week or so later.
I'm new to this country and I have to learn all the ins and outs of money in the UK. I was really good with my money in the States. My husband is not so good with money and got £70,000 in debt with two failing businesses. He became depressed and went into heavy denial - wouldn't even disclose everything to me - and it ended up in a huge screaming fight where I insisted that I was taking over the money and he would be going bankrupt. So, I had to get educated on bankruptcy and finance in the UK very quickly!
My husband will be debt free on week from today and I'm now learning about how to scrimp and save and invest so we can be financially secure in a few years.:beer:0 -

Funnily enough I typed into google "ways to make money" as I was desperate to get more money coming in!! (although not to pay off my debts but to spend!!!
) And I ended up getting a link to MSE on paid clicks. Really got into reading that and then I ventured out and joined! I found the site in January 06 but joined the forums in February 06 and I've never looked back! Wish I'd found it sooner! Spend all my time here in DFW or in OS. I'm now on here every day!!!

I found the site through searching for freebies, I belonged to a couple other swap & freebie sites. Then started to look at Martin's info & then started reading the chat forums :j
Really wish I'd known about MSE sooner, especially the dfw & old style forums, they're my favourites :T0 -
