being a lone parent is one CoE, being within 11 weeks of EDC is another, totally separate.Vixie_Pixie wrote: »for pregnancy?? Unless her OH has an illness or disability! I have never known the DWP to grant ESA on grounds of pregnancy!!!!

Hiya
I'm going to recycle some info I have posted several times before. I can't guarantee that everything will be relevant to you, but it gives you some idea of what's out there.
******
There is help out there but much of it won't be available until you actually have the baby.
The first thing that comes to mind is the Health in Pregnancy Grant – a one off payment of £190 which can be claimed from the 25th week of pregnancy. Further details on the link. http://campaigns2.direct.gov.uk/money4mum2be/en/
Obviously once the baby is born you will get Child Benefit (currently £20pw for the first child and £13.20pw for each subsequent child). http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/index.htm
Then there's the Healthy Start tokens – vouchers worth £3.10 each that can be spent on milk, fresh fruit and vegetables or infant formula. I'm not sure that you are eligible to claim these until the baby us born as I'm assuming you're not yet receiving any form of Tax Credits? http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/...rth/DG_4002854
There is also the Sure Start Maternity Grant – a one-off payment of £500 which can ONLY be claimed in the following period: 11 weeks before the baby is born until the time the baby is 3 months old. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/moneytax...en/dg_10018854
Finally there's Tax Credits. Unfortunately I know very little about these so besides providing you with the link below, I'll let someone else explain further! http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/st...fies/index.htm
Hope that helps.

because i deal with pregnant claimants in this situation all the time as part of my job and i have never known any of them to have been granted ESA. Also from previous experience, if there is a joint claim and one of the couple is pregnant the DWP tend to grant JSA because the other member of the couple is capable of work. I'm not saying she won't be entitled, i'm just saying i have never come across it in my jobAll hail to the sale!!!!!!

Apparently, ESA can be paid from six weeks before your baby is due until two weeks after your baby is born.
