Might have been a redirect to a firm near you doing work for Heathrow. You can redirect calls from any number to another without much issues.
If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 7555

I get about 6 phone calls for the local hairdressers every week as our number is one off theirs. Most people I just give them the real number but if they're rude then they are fair game IMO

Something like this has newspaper case-study written all over it :)

As an ex-newspaper reporter, I would seriously think about giving one of Middle-England's nationals a call and deffo your local paper.... I can just see a pic of you on the end of the phone with a write-up underneath and a response from Ocado's press office.

Of course, you may not want to do this - but I can virtually guarantee you would get taken up on this story as it is a human-interest story involving a household name getting things seriously wrong, and with a seemingly bad attitude of one of their staff members - excellent newspaper fodder

  • In my first job, the first few days. I noticed there was always heavy breathers, hang ups or someone asking for a "blond", turns out we had been giving a old escort agencies telephone number. It always gave us a good laugh.

I had that when we lived in Norfolk. We used to get calls from drunken American airmen in the middle of the night trying to get a taxi back to their air-base.

You should have given them my number. ;)

OP, I do think you are making a fuss about a very small inconvenience. On some phones it can be very easy to set a divert without even realising (a particular Siemens model springs to mind). What would you like to happen - would you like the advisor to lose her job for a simple mistake? The more you kick up a fuss, the more likely this is to happen.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hi,

Not sure if anyone else has had this experience, but this morning at 8am my home phone starting ringing off the hook, I was upstairs and could just hear it ring, ring off , then ring again and again! Obviously I was very concerned as my house-mate had just left for work taking my daughter to school in the snow and ice, so I rang downstairs to get to it, but it rang off again. Then after a few seconds it was ringing once more, I saw on Caller Display that it was Ocado's number as they had called me last night regarding a complaint I had with my last delivery, so I picked it up... only to have some very unhappy individual ranting at me about being overcharged £9.99! Once I got a word in edgeways I asked her who she was trying to ring and she said Ocado. I thought it must be just her mistake, but then when I walked away it rang again and again. I picked it up to be greeted by yet another Ocado customer who was adamant she had rung the correct number.

So, I rang Ocado only to be told that the girl who spoke to us last night had mistakenly diverted calls to my home phone !! I was naturally furious and he simply offered £20 in compensation - no actual apology. I have also sent an email complaint and await their response.

Is this a common complaint? I am aghast at how such a large company can make such a mistake. I was firstly worried sick and then very frustrated by having to deal with disgruntled Ocado customers... and he didn't even apologise!!

On thinking about this,in the last call center I worked in, to transfer/divert someone you had to enter the 'receever's' phone number, not just press a button.
  • My friend's number is one number different to a hospitals hip replacement department and she gets several calls a week. I answered this morning.

'Hello?' 'Hello, is this the Musculoskeletal unit?" "No, this is a private flat"..

Normally people are fine but sometimes they launch into telling us all about their appointments, it's quite scary, if we wanted to i'm sure we could get lots of information out of them. Most callers are quite elderly and sometimes it takes time to get them to understand what we are saying... that they haven't called the hospital! Just thankful it's only open 8.30am-5.30pm, though we sometimes get woken up by people ringing.

i answered the phone at work the other day and the woman was asking for people who did not work for us - she was asking questions about a products that we supply, but was not on our customer base and the name of the staff member who we dont have - turns out the buisness she wanted to phone is above us in yellow pages - i asked her 3 times if she meant to phone 'buisness name in town' only to be told she was not mad and knew who she was phoning .. 3rd time she said your from 'buisness name' , "silly girl, why did you answer the phone when it was quite clear i ment to ring someone else" and then hung up!!
