Pretty good quote for the age. If you still want to search elsewhere, Bell and Elephant quote good prices for young drivers. But I believe you have a very good price.

Do it, quick - I am paying more than that at 18 with 1 years NCB and Pass Plus...

  • my insurance was never over £650, even as a new driver, try privilege, thats who i was with, their part of direct line and let you earn no claims as a named driver. also try swiftcover, when i was looking to renew my car insurance they were by far the cheapest, but you have to start your own run of NCB with them, so my 8 years didn't count. But if your boys don't have any NCB yet then it wouldn't make a difference to them ;)

Pinkneon, I'm guessing you're female, therein lies the difference. OP you can do better than that with Admiral. Ring them up and tell them your son's been a named driver on another policy for a year and they'll give you a years NCD which will probably bring it down to £800 ish. Then, if possible, put ALL your household cars on the Admiral MultiCar policy, which takes 10% off the price for EACH car.
I'm with admiral, 18 YO male, paying £750.

BISL? Just as well you didn't have to make a claim then I guess!

My 2p - bite Admirals hand off at that price (still no harm in asking if they can go any lower!) - I'm currently with Admiral and VERY satisfied with them.

In terms of pay monthly - take out a 0% credit card and pay it off on that and then pay the appropriate amount each month. From the top of my head, theres a Sainsburys 0% for 12 months and an Amex with 0% for 6. Just make sure you pay it off in time!
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male:

Another good thing about paying it on a 0% card is you can pay it off early if you want and be done with it.

Why? BISL is Budget Insurance. Nothing wrong with them.

Another vote for 'Bite their hand off' for Adminral from me.

    Also, try

Their insurance is provided by Equity Red Star. Not sure what they are like with young drivers, but they beat quotes for my insurance (30,000 miles per year and business use) by £hundreds.

Groups like the IAM won't take such inexperienced and young drivers. Not to mention that most insurance companies that offer a discount for advanced drivers are more expensive than other insurers.

    Its extremely annoying.
My mate had his AIM before uni so he must only been 18-19 when he did it and he was only using his mum car occasional in weekends and evening.
