One thing though, make sure you list only as immediate payment required otherwise you won't get a fee credit in August.
Soo
soo my question wasn't about todays 5p listing day it was about the previous reduced insertion fee listing day and wether unsold items still qualify at reduced insertion fee rates when you relist them. And if so wether that was only if they sold.

If they sell on the relist you will only get back the 5p you will ultimately be charged to list.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. thanks for the reply Soo - but sorry that's clear as mud mate! :+) (but I expect my question is as well)
Forget completely about todays free day.
In general when you list BINS on a reduced insertion fee listing day (wether the offer is for BINs only or paypal only or not).
If item does not sell in 10 days and you decide to relist do you pay the usual full insertion fee for the relist or is it still at the reucd rate.
Trying to establish wether reduced insertion fee days effectively work out to 10 or 20 days for BINs?0 -
dodger..it all becomes clear now (I think)...
If you list today you will effectively pay a basic BIN listing fee of 5p (allowing you comply with all the ts and cs). If it doesn't sell and you relist in 10 days time you will initially pay the full listing fee, but if it sells you get that second lot of listing fees back. So yes, assuming it sells on the second listing and all usual requirements are met you can get 20 days for you 5p.
There was a suggestion on one of th eunmoderated boards to use this to your advantage. Ie list today but high on the off chance you will get a buyer. If not, relist at a rate you will expect to sell in 10 days time and there won't be as much stuff littering the listings and you have effectively extended the cheap offer day.
Obviously this only works if it does sell the second time.

On a different note I've got my buying hat on and am searching the listings for things I want. I think there are going to be a lot of unhappy people come August when they don't get their refunds..I've found several buyers list with BIN today and actually say in their listings that they require immediate payment, yet have set the listing as an auction with a BIN and obviously with no immediate payment requirement set.
Actually...there are lots out there who appear to be taking advantage of the bIN day yet not setting their auctions right, what a shame for them.

If I don't list anything in August, do ebay give me back my money? or do I just get credits for when I list at a future date other than August? or if I don't list anything in August do I lose out?0

The credit stays on your account until you use it all up. AFAIK it doesn't expire at all, it just puts your account in credit.

Trying to relist an item that originally had a start price as well as a BIN... it won't let me remove the start price... any bright ideas?
Or doesn't it matter? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I don't know how to relist as a BIN if it was originally an auction....mind like feathers tonight. If you list as an auction with a BIN you don't qualify for todays promotion but you do still qualify for the relist credit if it does sell.
