you could chilll for a day or two, but make sure you bring to the boil.
i'd let it cool completely then freeze it. i'd freeze in portion amounts - enough for soup / risotto. if space is an issue, you can freeze it in plastic bags in an icecream tup then as you use them up you can just squeeze the bags in around other stuff.
oh, and depending on its consistency, i might boil it for a bit after taking the chicken out, to reduce it if its too watery.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal, I always get confused about what the difference is between ham and gammon - please could you explain and say more about how the savings work out for you? Where do you buy your gammon?
I thought I'd been really clever yesterday, discovered my farm shop sells packs of bacon bits at about £3.50/kg vs bacon at about £9/kg, just got a little pack at 80p for my chicken and bacon pie (from slightly rubber chicken, but not as rubbery as some on here!) - put them in a tray above my rubber chicken in the oven to save having to cook them separately - then the phone rang and all my bacon bits got burnt as I forgot about them. Doh...0 -
Frugal, how much liquid do you put in with the gammon? Water or stock? And how long do you cook it for and what temperature? Sorry for all the questions but I don't know where to start!
Nothing in my sc today. Made bean casserole in the sc yesterday which was really disappointing, too tinned tomatoey and nothing I added seemed to improve the flavour.0 -
Chicken pieces (legs and thigh) which i'll use to make a Chicken and sweetcorn pie tomorrow, plus a few little pasties for lunchboxes if theres any pastry bits left.

Hi all,
Had to share this book I found in my local library. "The best family slow cooker recipes" by Donna-Marie Pye, ISBN 0-7788-0070-9. I have tried over a dozen of the recipes and haven't found a bad one yet. It is an American book but its easy to adapt the recipes. In fact, the recipes are so easy we took the book and the slow cooker on our caravan holiday in August. So nice to get back in the evening to yummy food and soooooo cheap.
