We used to have a Tommy monitor for ours years ago ,which was 2 little plug in gadgets, we could sit in the garden with the second gadget plugged into an extension cord.
One thing i found useful to do was take a flask of tea and a sandwich to bed with me, then when bub woke up,I could change him quickly and then hop back into bed a breast-feed him while having something to eat.
(Breast feeding makes you feel very hungry).
I think if I had been bottling feeding,I'd have had one of those little mini fridges for the bottle and a bottle warmer . Its so much easier and less of a stress when you havent got to traipse around the house upon the rude awakening and easier to get back to sleep.0 -

Oh how true, coz at the end of the day all babies r different and react to different things. wat might be right for spud wont be right for someone elses baby.
Take dummies, DS didnt really have one not that i didnt give it to him, he just couldnt get the hang of keeping it in his mouth!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Would say that only nappy sacks are needed. Why not post on yr local freecycle for a monitor - many parents will have them languishing around in the loft?0

good luck! i bet you cant wait!! we borrowed a baby monitor off family but cant say we used it much as you can hear baby cry in our house first baby slept like a log second took the roof off!!! never plugged it in with second much there was no need!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway i would say get a cheapish one before you know it theyre at school!!!!!! and nappysac wrapper was a godsend to sister with twins but i never borrowed it for mine as it was easy enough to use single nappy sacks and cheaper so that'll do for me!!!plus the wrapper takes up more space! half of the things they try and sell you can cope without we borrowed a potty and i'm glad i never bought one as none of my two have used it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let us know when it is born all the best!!0

I only used a nappy wrapper as bathroom was downstairs and it kept used nappies safe from the dogs........Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Why not use cloth nappies? They might cost a bit more upfront, but you will save a fortune on them in the long run, and make the planet a nicer place for your little one. Some councils offer incentive schemes, so definitely worth looking into. The Women's Environmental Network can point you in the direction of people who can give you advice - https://www.wen.org.uk0

Thanks we looked at cloth nappies. I think the idea that you would get someone elses nappies back didn't appeal to my wife (didn't really bother me to be honest), and the thought of what happens when the baby moves onto solids just scared me tbh!Waddle you do eh?0 -

why dont you buy resuables from new? you can get a "starter" set,it works out much cheaper in the long run apparently
i dont know that much about them as i used disposables
but do a search on here and there are a few threads about it
heres one http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=195990&highlight=reusable+nappies0 -
congratulations! if u use disposables def just use the nappy bags. we use disposable at night & washables in the day - was wary at 1st cos of the washing but really isnt any hassle at all (this is from someone who hates housework & is always behind with washing, putting away etc.!) i got some shaped terry ones from ebay that were new but slight seconds - wonky seams etc but perfectly fine for baby to wee & poo in!! we use cotton bottom wraps on the top as the plastic pants made him sweaty & exacerbated his excema. if u do use washables 1 thing people don't tell u is how big their bums are & some clothes dont fit over the top! stretchy fabrics & bigger size vests required!
as for the vibrating chair - both my boys hated the vibration so wasnt switched on much! we very luckily borrowed a bumbo for ds2 (now 7 months) & it is fantastic! wouldnt buy new though as v expensive & only in them a few months. also have travel cot (£2.50 from charity shop that obviously had no idea what to charge for things) so he can go outside naked in the shade on towels to get air to his excema.
we have a tomy monitor that we used for both & is still fine so def try a 2nd hand one. we dont use it at night as he in next room & we'd never get any sleep if we could hear every movement! is best not to go in at 1st sound anyway or they never get used to sorting themselves out. if there's really a problem believe me u will hear them!
can i just say how great it is that dad is getting involved from the start. hope the novelty doesn't wear off! your wife will need you.
enjoy the baby - ds2 doesnt sleep but he is really smiley during the day so i let him off, your child's laugh is the best sound in the world!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0
