the drunk bloke down the road 'keyed' my car down one side the week before xmas, 2 witness statements were given, They arrested him as 430 and charged him at 1015, due to him being to drunk to talk too. Got a letter today saying they werent charging himas he claims to not remember anything.
So angry.... just want to punch his lights out now.....
So in our area, be drunk do vandalism and then deney knowing anything and you can get away with it. Doesnt it feel great to be british some days.
If you have two witnesses and you know where the guy lives... why haven't you started a small claims process online to recovery the money he owes you? Get three quotes from reputable local garages in your area... and put in a claim for the average of the three here: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp
You will need to call your witnesses to win your case.0 -
im totally shocked and aghast to read some of this. nothing remotely like this where I live, but I guess time will tell. I think I will build a garage, for peace of mind. maybe its because none of my cars look worth damaging (Ive never had a car newer than 5years old).0

Again, i believe it is pointless going to the Police.
They wont do jack sh*t and you would be worse off.
My advise is - if you know who did, then sort it out yourself.

Just remembered, when I worked in a MOT station we had a car come in that had marks all over the bonnet, asked the man what happened, and he said he had split with his girlfriend , she had slashed his tyres and super glued a pack of frozen sausages seperately all over the bonnet!0

In my experience I think what happens is a combination of jealousy and the vandals (neighbours) seeing you out cleaning your car, doing maintenance and taking care of it - which just adds to the jealousy. Why they would be jealous of a 1994 Skoda I don't know, but I suppose if you're a Chav low life who has a bicycle, then any car is something to be jealous of. Thinking of getting a newer car soon and not sure if I should try park it somewhere away from the house, but I can't think of anywhere reasonable walking distance it would be less prone to thieves/idiots.what are your experience of car vandals? why do they do it?
In one case the police caught them in the act and they admitted the offence. They just got a telling off and I was left to sort out the damage.
I only wish that you wasn't right. Sadly I think another reason most vandals do over people's car is because they don't have one that can be vandalised as a return favour.naijapower wrote: »Again, i believe it is pointless going to the Police.

My car recently vandalised, I don’t think it were naughty children or jealousy (quite old car). It seems to me that it was the guy in front of whose house I parked as I could not find parking (someone else had parked in front of my home. Please note it is not allocated or driveway parking. That person slashed all four tyres and broke glass of one door. It cost me a lot as I had to buy new tyres, luckily got door glass from a scrap yard. But it was hell of trouble for me as we are very dependent on car, my wife had to take taxi to go to work for one week.
Police can’t do anything as there is no evidence against anyoneL.0
