The trouble with a lot of 'ideas' is that they start off with a distorted or out of date view of the 'facts' based on reading Daily Wail headlines.

    HERE'S ANOTHER ONE.

My local council has Education Dept. forecasts for 2014/2015 for a 25% reduction in the number of pupils attending secondary schools due to a fall in the birthrate. This is already known as these pupils are already at primary school.
Why then are we still trying to attract more youingsters into teaching?

    Regards,

    N.

Don't teachers retire anymore, or move on to other jobs leaving vacancies?

Our LEA estimated a drop in primary school numbers and reorganised schools as a result. They now have barely enough places for the unexpected increase in births since they did the number crunching.

    Here's a suggestion.

Instead of pouring vast amounts of money into the Met Office, which seems to be becoming less accurate at forecasting our weather, invest the same amount into water storage/grit storage.

Then we will have facilities in place to cope with those exceptional years, instead of failing to predict them, and then being unable to manage the problems it brings.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

    - Scrap the CTF (it's the choice and responsibility of parents, not the government, to provide a nest egg for their kids).

    - Means-test child benefit

the government projected stats for the UK for age 0-14 are as follows

    2008 10.4m
    2013 11.0m
    2018 11.5m
    2023 11.9m

I don't have a statistic for 11-18 age group to hand but the above seems fairly illustrative of no great fall in the number of children requiring teaching.

I wonder if this increase will continue in recession - UK.
Most of the increase is due to young healthy fertile migrants earning enough in the UK to start a family.

Expensive, compared to spoiling a view

May I respectfully draw you your attention to the title of this board - CUTTING TAX - expensive solutions cost money rather than cut tax
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Another idea for money savers, please inform your local council and/or your local councillors if you spot any lights left on in your local council buildings.

Especially if you see them on after midnight, phone your councillor immediately, he'll be so grateful!!
