We had a letter to say that the upper limit will decrease from £7k to £5k towards the end of June, AND that the interest rate will be only 3%.
Their site still says 4% on £5-7K, no idea when they will change it, probably the day before the change.

If you look properly at their site
    http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/vantage.asp

click the interest rate tab you will see, underneath the current interest rate table, the words:-
"Please note, from the 27/06/11 the Vantage interest rates and upper limit will be changing. View Vantage future rates."
  • Don't forget - today is the day that the upper tier (4% interest rate) is removed, so remember to keep your balance(s) below £5k (between £3k & £5k) to get the best interest rate possible for this account, if you are keeping it/them open.

I seem to remember they wouldn`t pay the full amount of interest on any of your 1st £7000 if your balance went over £7000.

Does that still count.. ie if your balance goes over £5000 will they not pay the full interest on your full balance?

I`ve read the latest interest rates from lloyds and it doesn`t state that if you go over £5000 the conditions are breached like it was previously.

It just says up to £5000 is paid at the upper interest level.

Are people withdrawing the extra £2k from their vantage accounts today or waiting until the beginning of next month so as not to lose the 4% for this month or does that not apply?

The interest rate dropped yesterday on the 27th June. I withdrew the extra yesterday. In fact at the end of June I'm thinking about moving the lot - 3% is available from a few places.

It also says that "over £5,000 no interest is paid".

I moved all of mine into the Incentive Saver yesterday. Same rate but no need to move the money in and out each month. Faster payments out as well (unlike Santander e-saver it seems).

I'm tempted to do likewise. I still have a window to top up my Newcastle 4.2% (180 day) Premier bond which is where the £6k top tier went yesterday.
