Lloyds TSB Vantage - Multiple accounts

Not the way it happened for me.
I opened two classic accounts online. As part of the process I had to confirm my name and employer and how long I had worked there.
That was it. Two days later the accounts were online which I then upgraded to vantage.
Paperwork arrived shortly afterwards, but nothing about going into branch.
I have done my banking with Lloyds for twenty years or more!0 -
"I have done my banking with Lloyds for twenty years or more"
Perhaps that is the difference, I have never had an account with Lloyds (or TSB)0 -

If you've never had an account with Lloyds then I guess they need proof of who you are.
In BlAck0ut's original post it says that there is a long standing account so there should be no problem opening more online.0 -
Apparantly I have to visit a branch to prove my identiy and address. Can everyone else just open a new Classic Account online without having to go into branch?0

I opened my first Classic with Vantage online, no problems. For the second I had to go in branch. Since it was less than a month after the first, that might be considered a reasonable anti-money-laundering precaution. The man I saw simply went through the on-screen questions, wasn't the least surprised when I declined the insurance/financial planning etc., and didn't try to change my mind; on funding, presumed that I would be bouncing £1k between the accounts.
More generally, I've always been accepted online with no paper id required, and a bank statement and council tax bill has been enough for in-branch applications, except for a credit card application from the bank I had been using since I was 6 (about 40 years at the time).Eco Miser

I opened 6 accounts before Christmas (3 for me and 3 for my husband) - i forget all the details but i did not have to go into branch but did have to be subjected to a telephone call to "determine that it was the right account" for me .... and to try to sell me other things (very politely and gently as i recall). You can only open one account every 24 hours online so it's not a single job at the PC.
In the end i felt that it quite probably would have been quicker to have gone into a branch and done it all there - it seemed to go on for ages. And they do like to send you an awful lot of paperwork - a joining pack for each of 6 accounts, even though they were all identical - maybe you could get away with just taking one if you were in branch.0 -
I have recently been through this process (just last week). I already had a current account with Lloyds and was able to easily upgrade it to Vantage online (with some help from this thread).
Because I already bank with Lloyds, I was also able to apply for two new current accounts online. This was easy to do, and I got the confirmation and introduction leaflets for one of the accounts through the post a few days later. I was then immediately able to upgrade it to Vantage online and stick £7000 in it. However it looks like they've ignored the request for the third account, probably thought that it was an accidental duplicate since I applied for two at the same time, which is reasonable enough of them, I will just have to reapply for it again.0 -
I dont know whether the website has changed, but up until recently I only had the option to upgrade my exisitng Gold account. There was no option to open another current account. I didnt want my Gold a/c to become a Vantage account as I would lose my no fee status as a long standing account holder but I did have 2 classic vantages that I had opened in branch last year.
Last week I noticed it was allowing me to open a new classic current account, which I duly did. Once it was visble online however I had to call to convert it to Vantage status (so they could try and sell me other products!) I now happily have 3 clasic vantages (all maxed out with a rolling £1k S/O and a no-fee Gold account,If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
As I understand it you are only allowed 3 per person - up until last summer you were allowed 7
I opened 5 over a period of a few months just in my name:), but they refused me a 6th application:(Justice for the 96 YNWA
