What is better if I have between 10-12k to invest right now. Is the Santander 5% of Llyods Vantage account?

Shabbey? Noooooooo  The 5% interest is only on the first £2500.
If I were you I would open two Lloyds current accounts with vantage spread the funds so you have at least £5k but not more than £7k in each and shuffle £1k each way between the two every month.

thanks for this - I have just read your comments.
Not quite! For most people the month runs from the second of the month to the first of the following month but the t&cs specifically state that the charging period (which is also the funding period and interest period) could start on any day of the calendar month.
For most people the month runs from the second of the month to the first of the following month
    - Why? Is the second day of the month the day on which most people make their initial monthly credit to the account? Is the date of the first deposit after upgrading the account to Vantage the trigger point for calculating the monthly period?

Does Lloyds advise you of the funding/charging etc period? Is this indicated on your statements? One month has not yet lapsed since my parents made their initial deposit (3rd August) so we cannot check this yet.

Thanks once again for your helpful advice.

partner managed to open a vantage account, and then make it joint. That means I have online access to 6 vantages. Partner will open 2 more (their 3 max) which will take my total to 8.

Last night I tried to arrange a Standing Order for £1k from my eSaver to the one Classic Vantage I have but didn't manage it. No matter what anyone says Lloyds TSB's site is awful to use. It's much more complicated than any I have ever used. So, I decided it would be better if I ask them to do it for me. The young Welsh lad I have just spoken said it can't be done - "you can't do a S/O from a savings account to a current account". I am sure other posters have done a switch like this every month, haven't they? i.e. £1k going back and forth?

I will transfer out the money in the eSaver to some other bank and set up a S/O from there.

    Has anybody got any comments?

As you have found e-saver is a savings account and cannot have standing orders set up on it only manual transfers are possible.
Most people have multiple classic with vantage accounts and use standing orders or manual transfers between those.

Just use the quick transfer (its right at the top of your list of accounts) facilty to move the 1K to the Esaver and then immediately move it back - a manual process, but it takes about 30secs once a month

    hi all

can any one help me, a little while ago, i remember receiving a letter from lloyds reference changes to the current accounts from december, cant find that letter any where, but i recall them stating about a drop in the interest rate for the current account with plus, was there any changes planned for vantage interest rate??

just wondering as i am thinking of opening the 3rd account but if rates are dropping then not sure will be worth it

None that would be to your detriment...
