In the email from paypal it said it had to be a trackable service for it to be used as evidence. Which is understandable as a proof of postage is merely a piece of paper with a handwritten address on it, you could put any address on there. At least thats what I get at my post office, just a kind of reciept and I write the address on. Whereas for recorded its printed on the actual reciept.
Ive actually asked for recordeed off a buyer before now when it wasnt offered, they had a few negatives but did have alot of feedback and whats 75p for piece of mind.
There is more than one sort of chargeback, fraudulent use of a card is defendable by proving item was posted, you don't need recorded for that as a COP will do.There are two main sorts of COPs, one is a pre printed one that comes on a pad that you fill out and get stamped at the PO, the other sort is a till receipt from the PO that states it is proof of posting and which they have written address details on.
Item not received is a different matter, for that you must prove delivery, so you can't win even if you use recorded whilst that item is still in transit. It MUST show as delivered to win
As for buyer paying extra, what for? You do realise thta if you pay by paypal you are covered 100% against failure to receive don't you?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This thread seems like a "Daily mail " article with the ammount of scaremongering comments about stuff going missing! lol
Haven't had one claim that an item never arrived in well over 200 sales.
Surely it's only a minor issue to refund the scammer and get you money back from Royal mail, who care's if they are trying it on, just make sure you are covered!0 -
ebay and paypal print out not proof? thats not good. My gf has had to do the same thing, what else could they possibly want as proof of value?
got a book of stamps in the mail today - doesnt even cover the cost of posting! what can we do? the items sold for £12 on ebay + postage - Am I naive in thinking if we took it to small claims they'd judge in our favour? the letter from RM states they lost it.0
