I have a fab recipe where I poach some chicken breasts in sherry and water for 20 mins. Mix some double cream with some paprika and a block of cheddar cheese then pour over the chicken and cook in the oven for 10 mins till the cheese bubbles

    Gorgeous :D

I have done my late Nana's trifle this year (heavily laced with Harveys Bristol Cream) :D

But I have no idea what to do with the rest of the bottle...(except drink it or make more trifle!) Does anyone have any nice recipes please?

Would prefer savoury things really but all ideas welcome.

    Thank you

    Don't bother with the glass
    just pour
    it down the sink
    Gutrot! ;)
  • Hi,

You can use it in a lot of chicken sautee recipes (the kind that use cream) to de-glaze the pan and make a delicious sauce. Any recipe which calls for marsala, you can substitute sherry for the marsala.

    Hi frugal,

It will keep for ages as it is, but I use leftover sherry in chinese stir fry dishes as a replacement for rice wine....it adds a real authentic flavour. I'll add your thread to the existing one on Sherry later.

How about doing a spanish tapa's night? could do a few tapas dishes and have the sherry with it.
At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)

  • Use it to make your sauces, casseroles and gravies extra special, it will keep for ages so dont worry about it going off
