But if you could be kind enough to place it in our recipe collection I'll be eternally grateful because it'll be so much easier to index for other people to find than buried in this thread about sherry :)

    It's not a problem - just a request :)

  • chinese shiosing wine can be used in place of sherry in cooking as well. It costs approx £3 a bottle from Asian foodstores.

Aye, but the problem is that when I did my order for chinese bits and bobs last week I forgot about the wine/saki and don't want to pay the P&P just to have that sent seperately :(

It's such a damn nuisance having to rely on internet shopping, but until middle son passes his driving test I'm stuck for someone to run errands for me further than the local village, or even ferry me about if I can manage to get out and about again (although I'm not sure my nerves could stand being driven around by him yet  :rotfl: )

Going to be more old style and cook more from scratch-getting the children to help- in the hope that they will eat it.

My 6 year old has picked `Orient Express` a chiense pasta stir fry, however it says to use Sake-n/t at tesco online or sherry, but which one? there about 10 to choose from.

    Thank you

    week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.54
  • personally I use Shaosing which is a type of chinese cooking wine. It costs £3 for a 1ltr bottle and is available in Asian foodstores. Cheap sherry from Tesco will do the same job :)

That sounds like an Annabel Karmel recipe ;)
I would use a fino sherry as it's very dry.A cream sherry will be much too sweet and so would an amontillado.HTH
