Not really OS, but I was given a bottle of Sherry for Christmas. I am really not a fan of it, so is there any cocktail I can make with it?
Other than putting it in a trifle, any other suggestions?Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

i use it to marinade lamb. A whole lamb leg, slits in it to insert garlic and rosemary, dry sherry and then roast.
I don't think it would work on sweet sherry.
Otherwise, I think some add chillies in it to make a chilli sherry and use it to make sauces.
It can also be used (the dry kind) as a substitute for chinese rice wine when doing stir fries0 -
How about a sherry mousse? I'll dig out the recipe if you'd like it.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

SHERRY MOUSSE
1 tin condensed milk (approx 400g)
2 egg whites
1/2 pint double cream
15ml gelatine in 60ml water
3+ glasses of sherry (can't remember what size a usual sherry glass is... 50ml?)
Combine the condensed milk with the lightly beaten cream
Add 3 or more sherry glasses of sherry
Add dissolved gelatine
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites
chill.
It usually splits into a fluffy moussy bit on top and gorgeous creamy bit on the bottom.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. Try adding to tapas when cooking. It works well with chorizo.
Have you tried putting the bottle in the fridge and drinking it chilled with a savoury, such as cheese? It has a different flavour and texture chilled.0 -
