many of the topics on the forum unfortunately go off topic including your own challenge with James. This was supposed to be a thread about having a competition to see who could spend the less money but there were countless postings about a relationship with yourself and ms london and then a relationship with ms london and james and then a relationship with ms london and someone else? should that have been in the relationship forum- what did it have to do with the inital posting? were the people who posted there also idiots? where do you draw the line?

    Is this true, SS?

You knowingly wandered off-topic in a forum whose sole purpose is to discuss money-saving? :naughty:

  • a few facts about the wrinkle faced dragon and her foolish husband

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have sent about 37,500 Christmas cards during The Queen's reign.
.........the fact that there are over 50 million living in this country shows just how much she cares.

The Queen has always been subject to Value Added Tax and other indirect taxes and rates on a voluntary basis.
.....voluntary, well i volunteer not to pay any taxes

The Duke of Edinburgh was born at the villa 'Mon Repos' on the island of Corfu, on 10 June 1921. He left Corfu on 3 December 1922, when he was just 18 months old.
......so about as british as the queen herself

The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen are both great-great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria. The Duke is a direct descendent of Princess Alice, the third child of Queen Victoria. The Queen is a direct descendent of Queen Victoria's eldest son, Prince Albert Edward (later King Edward VII).
....proof if proof be needed that they condone inter-family relationships.

The ordinary, unsung aspects of life have found a champion in The Duke - including bricks and mortar. Prince Philip served as President of the National Federation of Housing Associations in 1975-80, and chaired the Inquiry into British Housing, which published two reports - in 1985 and 1991.
....WOW, doesnt this make us like them even more?

In 1976 The Duke of Edinburgh was immortalised as a waxwork at Madame Tussaud's Museum, London.
.....and just like his waxwork, he stands and does f**k all

Prince Philip is a committed and enquiring Christian, with a particular interest in the relationship between science and faith. Below is a prayer written by His Royal Highness
......see above, he married into his own family

    anyway, heres my input
we dont need the queen. yes theres the tourism argument. but look at versailles. its a hugh tourist attraction. this country does not need the physical prescence of royalty to raise revenue from tourism.

for me the monarchy is just a feudal throwback which i consider innapropriate for the 21st century. theyre nothing but a bunch of foxhunting, german landowners whose backgrounds and interests represent a very narrow stratum of society.

when she kicks the proverbial bucket. look at which inbred, jug- eared fool is going to replace her. do we really need him representing our country abroad? we get mocked enough as it is.
its well over 10 centuries old. aint it about time we moved on?

personally i dont feel the benefit of anything the royal family does. apart from 'own' swans, whales, dolphins and sturgeons.

im up for a republic. would cost far less and they wouldn't feel a need to own a house/ castle in every major county of great britain
  • I think she's a bargain - I mean ... what else could you get for 62p ... no I'd forgotten this was MSE - DON'T post me a whole list of what I could get for 62p - still think she's a bargain though!

:T Well said. Get yourself over to https://www.republic.org.uk ;)

Let's not forget either that the Royal bloodline was actually broken in 1442 when Edward IV was born illegitimately, thereby invalidating his claim to the throne. Every King and Queen of England since 1442 has been an illegitimate one.

The lovers of British heritage and the hero-worshippers of royalty will be interested to know that the legitimate King of England is actually a Mr. Michael Abney-Hastings, who lives in Australia. He is, however, vehemently opposed to monarchy. :D
