Some people will never learn, these over hyped, over priced systems are a complete con, targeted at the gullible.

Anybody thinking of buying these " systems " save your money and invest it in good insulation.

    Got that thanks.

Just had a funny thought do you think our grandparents carried on like this when they were getting rid of their gas mantles and replacing them with electric lights?:rotfl:

No comparison, the electric light was a significant improvement over existing systems, alas this hyped up junk is not.

    For the last time!

There is a valid argument that heating on a normal 24/7 tariff can suit some people better than storage heating.

There is not a valid argument that 'your' radiators produce more heat for the same running costs than any other electrical heater.

There is not a valid argument against the statement that these other heaters(wall mounted if you wish) can be obtained for a fraction of the cost of your heaters.

The disclaimer page on the royal radiators website here makes interesting reading. Seems that they can say what they like on t'net and get away with it, as it's not covered by advertising standards.

But Trading Standards may be interested ;)

I'm most sincerely sorry for not picking up this point before, it's probably to do with the fact that when using my delonghi dragon thermostatic heaters to boost a little on an evening in 2 rooms they guzzled about 3 units each. I've never dared try a 24hr test on them, but once my transfer is over to the cheaper rate I'll give it a go and post my findings. Might be useful to somone. Actually seeing as we're passing one on to hubby's mum the info might be useful to her.
That post above again demonstrates that you simply do not understand even the basics of electrical heating.

To save you the trouble of 'stating your findings', let me state that without question your Delongi dragon heaters will produce EXACTLY the same amount of heat for the 3 units they 'guzzled' as your Royale heaters would produce.

That you even contemplate that your heaters can produce more heat than the Delongi heaters seems to prove that you have been taken in by the garbage on the website.

As far as I am aware, trading standards will not take on internet websites!

The quotes below are all from the Royale website:(my bolding)

Our unique range of electric radiators provides the combined benefits of both wet systems and storage heaters. Quality heat, with low running costs yet heat when you want it in the quantity's you desire and at a similar running cost to gas.

60% less electric than a storage heater and 36% lower running costs, 50% lower than oil, on a par with gas.

60 % less energy than storage / 36% lower running costs.
    Lower running costs than gas.

Therefore, when a 1000w radiator is installed in a room that has been
calculated to require a 1000w radiator, if switched on for 8 hours to maintain a room temperature of 21 degrees, it will only use approx. 3 hours of electricity.

So electrical heating with similar/on a par/cheaper running costs than gas.

3kWh to produce sufficient heat to keep a room at 21C for 8 hours. Presumably the outside ambient temperature has to be 20C!

I'm sorry I don't know why we keep misunderstanding each other. What I think is happening is compared to the delonghi the new heater manages to hold on to it's heat and release it slower thus needing to kick in less thus drawing less power. But like I said I am willing to test it out on the delonghi and see what's really happening.

I suppose it's the same principal as the storage heaters releasing heat while they are not drawing. I could have run a 3.4kw heater for 7 hours during the night non stop and it would have used same power, created same heat as the storage, just wouldn't have distributed it the same. Just as the 23 + kw of heat didn't last till we needed it this house.

    I've just complete 24hr since 4pm yesterday test on the sitting room 1500w heater,it's kept room at constant 17c from 10pm to 7am and then agan 10am to 12.30 and 2.30pm to 4.30pm. 7am to 10am is 21c as is 12.30 - 2pm and 4.30pm to 10pm.

It's used 13 units = been drawing power for 8.6 hrs out of the last 24.

I'm sorry but if you check this thread someone has already commented on how my running costs are similar to their gas.
