...Re costs my “On Peak” tariffs Primary costs are around 20.02p per kWh for an initial amount followed by secondary units at 10.05p each kWh ( The initial primary charge per unit is to cover supplier meter equipment cost etc)

My “Off Peak” storage heating tariff (E10) is available for 10 hrs every day 3hrs afternoon 2hrs evening 8-10pm 5 hrs early morning 2-7am and costs 5.81p per kWh with a standing charge of 9.16p per day...

Is that right that you pay 2 tier pricing on your normal/on-peak rates as well as a daily standing charge?

Yes the two tier tariff incorperated the old standing charge for the peak tariff Once you could see what they charged for metering now it is invisible within the tariff

I have two meters the standard has two tiers whilst the E10 meter has a standing charge

Satisfaction reducing carbon footprint by 26 units a day? Priceless.

So you've reduced the amount of electricity/heat used - congratulations :T

As all electrical heaters are 100% efficient, that can only mean one thing ;)

Only a shame you are paying 2-3 times more per unit of heat you are still using

    (Good job there's Mastercard! :D)

Yes but we're loads warmer/happier, more money in pocket, so go figure that!

You know you must get an award for being the most illogical person I've ever come across.

    JennyR68,
As far as I am concerned, the issue is not about storage heaters versus heaters used on a 24/7 'normal tariff.

It is about your contention that these radiators that you have bought(at huge cost) being endowed with qualities that make them out perform other heaters.

That belief is very clearly incorrect.

Now if you simply decided that you were correct, Ohm's law was rubbish, and we didn't know what we were talking about, there wouldn't be a problem.

However you seem intent in persuading others to waste their hard earned funds, in buying a similar system.

You haven't given a shred of evidence to support your theories and simply want to get others to make the same mistake.

You use less heat to warm your home yet you claim to be warmer

... and to cap it all, you claim I'm illogical :rotfl:

Oh for goodness sakes, I have no interest in whether people buy them or not, that is their concern.

It's not my contention anyway it's the guy who sells them. Why not drop him a line with your questions if your so concerned? I merely confirmed they behave in exactly the way he describes, which I have monitored, giving evidence.

It's the likes of you and a couple of others that come on this forum saying electric is a terribly expensive way to heat bah humbug etc. Don't you like it when your proved wrong?

If others can acheive the same results with other systems that suit their budget and lifestyle then yay go for it.

You know I might even do that test for you with the old oil fired because I really wouldn't want you to be misleading people if just maybe your theory isn't right.

Yep, sure do, what don't you understand the difference between sat freezing on an evening and not? What on earth is the point of a load of heat when no one is around to appreciate it?

Crazy isn't it, I'm using less energy to stay loads warmer.

Ooh now wait a minute? thought we were being encouraged to cut down on our energy use these days, trying to save planet etc? Silly me.

I haven't got any experiance of panel heaters so can't advise on that. But what I have done recently is rip out our storage heaters and replaced them with thermostatic electric radiators I'm not allowed to include links yet but if you google economy radiators the company comes top of the search 'royale radiators' or 'economy radiators'.
    .
    .
    .
We now have 5 radiators instead of 3 storage (heating more rooms) and they use over 10kwh a day less than the storage.

Can't see any prices on the website, how much did your five radiators cost?
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
