Lol Im not really very good at much and with 2 young kids i dont have a lot of time either. This challenge is helping me keep the blues at baby being a s-a-h-m for the next 6 months, but im feeling kind of low because i cant find anything im good at (not that i could sell anyway).
Help me cheer up or ill never be in the right frame of mind! LOL
looking at your signature you're not doing too bad! its difficult when you are not sure which direction to go in. but what about the little ones things that are too little now - get them on ebay, it'll keep you going until your lightbulb moment, and it doesnt have to be selling. What about ironing - have done it in the past when was a stay at home mum-i charged £10 per stone )preferred charging by weight as sheets are heavy and baby clothes are easy and i found people wouldnt pay per item and its easier for them just to hand you over their basket -no start up apart from black bags to put over shirts etc (clear ones too expensive) ask them to put in hangers.
do you go for a walk everyday with the wee one? - dog walk your out anyway.

Maybe this will help with some of our faltering starts and January blues. From a book I got after going on the liteminds site.
“In order to maximise your performance in a stressful world, you must create a protected and indisputable sense of worth for yourself. Until you do, energy will be drained from work and put into imagined threats to your survival, and into procrastination as a means of coping. Regardless of how you do it, or what you say, provide a safe place where you make yourself free of judgment, a place and a time where you can stop trying to perform perfectly.
If you are threatening yourself with self-hatred and a life of unhappiness unless you achieve your goal, its impossible to concentrate on the work in front of you now. You must have some kind of protection from these self- imposed threats. Your healthy survival response (commonly thought of as stress) will not stop until you are safe. You need a commitment to yourself and your innate worth that lets you know that, in spite of any failures, you believe in yourself enough to get back on this board – or some other board more suited to your unique talents.
It is interesting to note how many times successful people suffer through catastrophes and bankruptcies. The successful person fails many times and bounces back; but “The Failure” fails once, letting that one failure become a judgment of his or her worth, and thus, his or her identity. Following the example of most successful people, you could fall many times, repeatedly using your net to bounce back in order to work for another success. With a safety net to catch you, failure and mistakes can't stop you because you won't let them take away your inner worth ...”
The Now Habit by Neil Fiore.
Would also say after reading some Richard Branson that he never worried about what he could do but things always came to him while he was getting on with the things he could do at the time. Once something did come to him he found a way to make it happen.
So maybe those of us who haven't found our niche need to let go of the stress of having to find it. Trust that we will find it and get on with doing the things we can do until it comes to us. Those ordinary run of the mill things might just be the place where inspiration hits us.
Remember how hard it is to find something when you are desparately trying to remember where it is. Then when you move on to something else you often have a sudden flash of where it is. Your mind still knew you wanted to find it but you had let go of the stress which freed part of your brain to get on with it in the background and all of a sudden the connection was made.
Trust that you will find your thing but let go of the what and how and just get on with what you can in the meantime.
End of sermon

Same at times. Have you tried when something doesn't sell the first/ second time
- changing the title name/ putting different key words in
- reducing price if your item is not selling because it is more expensive than other items, we have to have some realism I guess, most things on ebay etc sell for less than retail ammount because people are looking for a bargin
- putting something away that you know is worth for for later in the year when sales might pick up, is there a type of year that item might be more suitable for?
- Combining auctions together, for ex, I had two books listed for 1 each, for 3 weeks, didn't sell, well put them together for 5 and they sold within 12 hours ... weird but commonly happens to me ...
- check online sales less, I know I am guilty of this, but you get to involved when you keep checking and nothing happens, a watched auction never sells maybe?!"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -
Well done to everyone, there are lots of healthy totals and masses of positivity here now.Why not carry a business card with you,as we never know when we'll need to present it .....
The advert idea you picked up on is definetly thinking outside the box, I have done this before and made serious money out of it ! There are some useful ideas I have with this, but I will see you all later.
You will have a superb day....."Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -
jo70, I could not agree more with what you posted from that book, in fact I may look for that book myself. This is exactly what has happened to me. I have been trying for several months to launch this business, but because of fear, feeling low and always feeling I had to be perfect, lack of support and in a very unhappy environment were really the downfall. Within 2 weeks of moving, and building up to being much happier on lots of diff levels a majority of the stresses now gone and i suppose just in general a more positive attitude and people who are encouraging and supportive of what I am trying to do. Positive can do attitude really has made a difference and I will do everything in my power to make my dreams happen as no one else can do it for me. I think I have said it before so apologies in advance, but I really believe that there is nothing in life that we can not have or achieve, we just have to want it bad enough and be prepared to honestly go after it!
I cant thank everyone enough for this challenge and all the support that comes with it. I am addicted to this thread as it makes me laugh, nod in agreement, sometimes cry and in general is a huge part of my daily routine now. If I feel a little low I come here read or sometimes re-read bits and the world seems right again, perhaps that is daft but it is what works for me.
Wishing you all a very successful day today, it WILL be a brilliant one!!
I am sorry for meandering along with what has become a massive post, forgive me please.
Right off to get dressed and go after that next contract this morning.......
Hugs

I have has a few wobbly moments this month. But, this thread, the support and positive energy have made such a difference. And any time I get tempted to wallow in self pity or sulk about the fact that I didn't win the lottery over the weekend I am reminded that a bit of determination can help you get far.
I know that some might think that PMA or positive thinking is a bit airy-fairy. But, it has meant that even though I have moments where I would like to give up I find a way to keep going. I have over £700 than I would have had without this thread and I am on the verge of getting my business up and running. And poster pester power and all these great ideas in this thread have helped a lot!
My other recommendation that has helped is Paul McKenna self hypnosis. It made a big difference, and it hasn't made me an overnight success but it has given me a much needed boost to my self esteem and motivation.
So, don't give up - keep on going and do the very best that you can!10K 2010 challenge £3202.59/£10000
