OMG OMG I'm really excited! I set up my Folksy shop at the weekend and I've just had my first sale :) I've sold a necklace and a card, which after fees will only make me about £7, but someone liked them enough to buy them!!! (Now I'm stressing that they won't like them when they see them IRL).

I put 6 or 7 things up just to put a toe in the water, but I'm sufficiently encouraged to put a few more things in the shop now. :)

Small beer compared with most of you, but v. exciting for me LOL.
  • Hiya guys

I’ve had about £100 worth of sales on ebay, they all ended last night and 8 out of 26 items sold, so I’ll relist then at the end of the week.

Have been feeling a bit ill and down this week, with no money and into so far into my overdraft I can’t really go out and do anything, one of the down sides of my job is my bf and all my friends are working when I’m at home alone, the money and work is not regular, and I’m constantly having to look happy and energetic when all I want to do is rest. I did get paid a hefty cheque yesterday but that just about clear my natwest credit card and over draft of and then I’m back to £0 :-(

I’ve spent my £100 on stock, just waiting for it to arrive, in the mean time I guess I’ll keep on ebaying my old things...
  • Congratulations!
I'm debating opening a Folksy shop, the market there seems so packed at the moment, and nobody seems to make many sales in the first few months of the year. Etsy looks worse, though!

What are you packaging your stuff in? If you don't mind me asking!

I'm just going to be using regular padded bags to start with. I'll pop the necklace in a little ziploc wrapped in tissue paper I think, and put the card between 2 layers of extra card to keep it flat. If I get adventurous I'll need to think more about packaging - maybe little boxes and business cards and stuff to work out.

I did do a lot of wandering around Folksy first and no-one on there seemed to be doing what I'm doing. There are lots more on Etsy doing similar stuff though, which is why I plumped for Folksy although it's not as well known.

I'm splashing out on some more supplies as I figure if I'm going to do it I may as well do it properly and I can always do a car boot or a craft fair to shift some if Folksy doesn't work. And I want to establish myself in Folksy before more people come in doing similar stuff to me.

I really ought to do my "real" job tonight, but I can see me shutting myself away with more craft stuff as I'm on a bit of a high. How sad I am! :)

That was inspiring :) I might give it a go. (Don't worry,I couldn't make a necklace if my life depended on it! :p). I was feeling nervous about taking the plunge, especially because of all the publicity that is supposed to be necessary, but I might go ahead.

    Thank you :)

ive sold some items today making me £18 for the pot, alothugh i am a little worried because i stated £2.50 sellers standard rate for postage. Now they only cost me about 60p inc packaging, but i included transport costs as my post office is so far away it cost me in pertrol every time go. I just hope i dont get any bad feedback or buying wanting their postage back
