I don't really feel like i should be charging her for this as it's something that i love doing, but she said she'd feel happier about it if she gave me some money in return for my time. She usually spends a fortune on over-priced ready meals (about £4 each! - and there's 4 of them!) and is a useless shopper, so it will probably even end up saving her some money too. And they'll all be healthier
I don't feel so guilty now i've written it down!
I think that is a great idea, and that there is a business in there somewhere. When I think of what I used to spend on food (and everything else), when I was working full time, pre redundancy and MSE, it makes me shudder.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

Well I've put in an non paying dispute with ebay now, and have also reported by "like new" book guy who sold me something falling apart and held together by selotape! Feel a bit mean but
Had an Amazon sale today. It had been sat there for a few weeks and last night I relisted it to the cheapest in its categort (by 1p) and it sold straight away! It does seem like cheapest item sells best on Amazon. So that's another £19.99 in the pot. Will work out properly later how much I've made so far.
Got a few higher priced items ending on ebay over the next 2 days - no bids yet but lots of watchers. And will put on my mobile phone today. Also planning a quick trip into town to look round the charity shops - although I think its maybe time I stopped buying until I've sold everything else!
I agree with the poster who said buying very cheaply can be a big risk - the market is flooded with 99p items - you need something in demand or different to make profits in this area from my (limited) experience. I also think buying new to sell on can be risky - wholesalers on the net are already marking up their prices, they're not the first distributers in the chain so any profits will be minimal imo.
I think there could be some profit in buying on ebay to sell at carboots though - lots of joblots available - but I've never done a carboot so don't want to buy anything until I know how it all works![STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -
i thought it would be nice to see what your all going to use your 10K for WHEN we reach it?
I hope im not cluttering up the thread!
Im going to use mine to pay off my 10k loan, the loan was over 10 years and we have been paying it for 2.5 years so far, just think how amazing it would be to pay it off in one year! All those interest payments saved!!!
Hopefully I would have paid of my £1k debt by then so would take my parents on a holiday, save most of it and re-ivest the rest of it or hopefully open my own online store.0 -
grrr I'm really annoyed, an ebay customer asked if I would accept £40 buy it now for an jacket and she would pay me next Thursday so I ended my item early for her and now shes pulled out of the sale. I guess I've learnt my lesson!0

I will use my 10K to pay off our credit cards and then take the family on a nice little holiday.
Then start the whole thing over again to start taking chunks off the mortgage!!!!

ok..... i need some market research info here...
IF you were buying clothes in bulk to sell on via ebay or market/carboot sale..
adults......£1 per item in lets say boxes of 30 - 50 and 100 items?
childrens 60p per item in the same quantities... no baby grows etc
does this seem reasonable or to cheap
then brand new clothing with tags...... 20% of the tag price?
what do you think... would people buy at these prices to sell on?Work to live= not live to work0 -

I would say....
adults max £1 per item, but depends on labels....if its primark stuff then you are probably talking pence.
Kids - 50p per item seems reasonable, roughly charity shop prices round here....
I think the brand new ones seem a bit expensive..... People at a car boot/ebay will be wanting to pay a lot less than the marked price..... I think a lot of the clearance/wholesalers/catalogue overs etc charge a lot less. I suppose it all depends on your margin really.....

I am touchy feely with clothes ... have to know that the quality is right. To be honest if it was the right category then I may consider the job lot (if I believed them to be genuine) but I don't think 20% of tag price is low enough to buy to sell on for brand new clothing. To give an idea, shops work off between circa 200% and 325% markup so (taking into consideration their overhead etc) they have room to push below your buy price and price you out of the market. Seasons move quickly and it is easy to be left with something new which is now worth considerably less than 20% off list. Just my thoughts on it.

I would give it a go, have you checked out the market for them on ebay? I would assume there would be a profit in them, even if it was only a couple of quid. it depends on the quality and demand i suppose. I don't know much about clothing so probably better waiting for someone elses opinion who knows what they are talking about! Someone did mention on here a while back they were buying clothes at £1 per item and planning to sell for £4.99 i think...? Can't remember who it was though :rolleyes:Did you know that 6 out of 7 dwarfs are not happy?!0
