    Thanks.
I have a rolling one month SIM only contract - does it count as PAYG or Contract when looking for a new handset?

I would advise the Nokia 5230, which can be picked up for just £64.95+£10 topup from Carphone Warehouse.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If everyone thought the same, one of them would have been withdrawn due to lack of sales.

Same answer. But you could use a network or CPW company comparison site to compare You will be the only person who can decide what features you think most important, but do use Google to look for reviews by consumers and then distill the advice.

Also look at tesco although they work on the back of O2 i am led to beleive they are locked to tesco, but not 100% sure.

Tesco do indeed lock the phones and charge £20 for an Unlocking Code unless you have been with them 12+ Months.

    Have I understood this right?

Go to Carphone Warehouse and buy an unbranded and unlocked handset on PAYG with a £10 top up and then put my own Virgin SIM in, discard the SIM I've just bought (or save for Orange Wednesdays wahetever) and just use the new handset as normal?

    That's right
