Could you not have two postage options of both courier and collection, so if they insist on paying Paypal, then you can insist on the courier option, at their expense obviously... The courier price might put people off, so they'll opt for cash on collection.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
A buyer would not know you live alone and there's no reason to let them in if you can get the item to the front door. I really think you are at no greater risk than with anyone else knocking on your front door.
You probably have more chance of getting mugged or run over on the way to the post office.
Don't worry about it - you'll probably realise how easy it was afterwards.
You could always ask them to keep the noise down as your partner is in bed having just been released from prison for GBH and is training nights for the world kick boxing championships.
Thank you for your kind post, I'm sure you're right, I almost wish I hadn't posted! I really need to get rid of this item its clogging up my kitchen. I'm sure it'll be fine and I'll wonder what all the fuss was about - its just so awful that there are people out there who prey on genuine people. Paypal should really revise their methods, they could even have a downloadable signature sheet."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

If you think about it though how could they enforce that as they don;t keep signatures on file. So bloke A signs and bloke B claims non delivery..and who moderates the dispute then?
Likewise if you were a buyer and turned up to collect something having paid previously by paypal, and when you get there they say 'sorry guv it's already been collected and I've got a signature to prove it', I'm sure you wouldn't be happy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's fine to post as I'm sure your worries are genuine, however it's important to keep the risk in perspective. I don't think there are really that many non-genuine people out there, particularly seeking heavy kitchen items which are cash on collection. Most scammers will be looking at small high value items and hiding behind numerous untraceable postal addresses.
You should always consider personal safety, but in circumstances such as this my view is that the risk is negligible, particularly if you think how many transactions take place every day and how often you hear of it going wrong.
Good luck.0
