Just come home from my local 99p Store- they are currently selling Fruit canes and Bushes 2 for 99p or 59p each!!!! :j

    They have -
    Raspberries
    Blueberries
    Blackcurrants
    Redcurrants
    Red Gooseberries
    White Gooseberries

Bush Roses (white, yellow, red, pink)
    Climbing Roses... and much more!!

My mum thinks that the roses are the best she has ever bought. They grow really big and have these huge beautifully scented flowers on all through summer and autumn! They come back bigger and better each year.

Never used the fruit bushes from there before... but for 2 for 99p definately worth a try, esp when some garden centres charge up to £14 for a blueberry plant!!! :j

they are 1 yr old plants so they wont fruit this year and any flowers should be removed so they dont so it can grow and establish - same as you'd buy from your local market

There are some good bargains in the various discount stores, 99p, Poundland, etc. When looking at the shrubs and bushes, remember, the quicker you buy them the less likely they will have dried up and died in the heat in these shops. I would rather try and look for something that appears to be sprouting a bit, otherwise use your finger nail to scrap the bark a tiny bit. If it is green underneath then it is still alive and ok to buy - otherwise leave well alone. For Roses, you want a bush with ideally 3 or 2 strong green stems about as thick as your little finger - don't worry that they look like they are covered in candle wax, this to protect them in the store, and it will dissolve once the weather gets to them. Remember to soak ALL shrubs, fruit etc for overnight in a bucket of water that covers all the roots before planting.

I would suggest that any one still suffering with the snow, soak the plants somewhere frost free, and next morning pot them up in a large pot and place in a cool but not frosty bright place, until the weather clears up.

The Roses are very good, as some are not grafted and are growing on their own roots, which makes them easy to take cuttings from them.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
