Just come home from my local 99p Store- they are currently selling Fruit canes and Bushes 2 for 99p or 59p each!!!! :j
They have -
Raspberries
Blueberries
Blackcurrants
Redcurrants
Red Gooseberries
White Gooseberries
Bush Roses (white, yellow, red, pink)
Climbing Roses... and much more!!
My mum thinks that the roses are the best she has ever bought. They grow really big and have these huge beautifully scented flowers on all through summer and autumn! They come back bigger and better each year.
Never used the fruit bushes from there before... but for 2 for 99p definately worth a try, esp when some garden centres charge up to £14 for a blueberry plant!!! :j

Ive bought raspberry and blueberry canes twice (last 2 years) and followed all the instructions, ive never had any sign of life from them. I soaked them as instructed and used potash etc, but they never ever did anything.
This year ill spend that little bit extra and get one from a garden centre. My mum spent £9.99 from Dobbies and hers gave loads of fruit.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
ah ok
i got them coz we had great results with our 99p roses... the bushes grew huge!
hmm, its worth a go tho. I'm a novice at this gardening lark - i'm still learning! Its all trial and error aint it.
hopefully my garden savvy parents can do something with them! All hail to the sale!!!!!!

Last year i bought strawberries and a pear tree from pound shops and they all just died as twigs!!
My wilkos apple and cherry tree have at least sprouted leaves and look alive, but will see if they ever grow any fruit!
My blueberry bushes were from spaldings and gave me loads of blueberrys in their first year - even though the birds ate them all!!
So, i agree, spending a bit more seems to be the answer - although as said, for 99p it is worth a try - just don't buy too many in one go and be out of pocket too much if none grow!!2009 - Attempting to grow my own Kitchen garden.....
did it!!!

You probably can't plant them at the moment because of frost so moisten the roots (not not leave them standing in water ) and put them somewhere cold.
Plant out when the frosts thaw.0 -
atm they are inside by the back door
i shall give the roots a moistening
we were gonna plant them on our allotment when the weather has improved.
Thanks for the advice

Hope yours do better than mine! Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
I got a redcurrant stick from Lidl the year before last, think it cost about £2, and it's grown pretty well. Still very small, but it's alive and looked pretty green before winter.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep
