BT Nighmare from start to finish! Long story but if your looking to switch to BT read on...
I had a great idea when I moved home over 19 months ago, combine my tv, broadband, home phone and mobile phone. BT had a great looking package which was Total Broadband with BT Vision, great, got mobile phone, tv, broadband and home phone.
Well moved house then all of what I'd ordered started to arrive until...
The broadband was not activated, one of the mobile phones did not arrive and the BT vision box did not arrive. BT huh, probably the biggest telecomuniactions companies in the uk could not talk between departments.
Cut a long story short took a couple of months to sort things out after Indian call centres mucked things up and BT's complaint esculation team conceded that my 18 month contract would not stand if I choose to switch back!
WELL I gave them 18 months and alot of my hard earned money and switched back to my previous provider, End of ... errm NO.
Great news BT extended my contact length to 27 months YES 27 MONTHS, there must be a law against that! And now my final bill is £158.94, I work it out to £10.65 ... There must be a law against that!
Tried to resolve by email got a phone call from India and they hadn't either read or understood the email! Tried the phone, again Indian call centre, couldn't string a sentance together. So a UK based team was supposed to be calling me in 48 hours that was 120 hours ago.
Verdict: Products were below par (had to keep another mobile phone contract and re join sky tv) Service was second to everyone! And if you have a problem you'd better be prepared for it not to get resolved and have a wall to bang your head on!
If your ok with the service you've got DON'T switch to BT, It WILL be more trouble than its worth.

I had a BT line which was inactive, Tiscali took my order and all the re connection dates came n went and then to be told Tiscali couldn't activate an inactive BT line!! Therefore I signed up to BT and they took my order and the connection date came n went!
Would you believe it BT then said Tiscali had the line. Eventually Tiscali set me up against their previous "I can't" then I had to have Openreach to do some line/junction work after loads of calls to Foreign call centres!!
Lastly now Talk Talk have taken over Tiscali and looks like more hassle with different prices and terms!!0 -

Hi debtmess
Be very carefull, go through your final bill with a fine toothed comb, mine was £158.94, they renewed my contract without my knowledge on the 16/03/09 then tried blaming me for getting BT Vision! The only trouble is I took BT Vision over 19 months ago .. go figure!
BT are only interested in your money and if you let them they will take way more than they are entitled. It turns out that I don't owe them £158.94 they owe me £7.61.
These forums are full of horror stories, the only thing is I think its the tip of the iceburg. Good Luck, they won't make it easy. BT Sending my blood pressure High! :eek:0 -
I could add the horror story of the phantom 15p credit they've been sending me bills for for the last 13 months.
But I won't.

they already tried it on in november
1st time an openworld man came round to look at broadband he suggested my very may i add old equiptment might be to blame (bt voyger modem 3plus years old) bt rung me later that day who told me there was a £45 charge for a new modem, when i tried argueing my equiptment was years old and no way was i paying for a new router thing i was told i couldnt have a new one by this stage i was getting rather annoyed told them id rather cancel everything gets put through to cancelations, ok they they tell me there is a cancelation charge for broadband as 2 weeks previous id enterted into a new broadband contract !!!!!! !
i then had to get that looked into one min no new router unless i entereted new contract yet when trying to cancel i couldnt as id 2 weeks previously entereted into a new one and a new router had been sent (more lies)
they then agreed to send me a new router without the contract as when looking at there records they couldnt find anything on me saying yes as such
fineally 24th december it was all fixed new router here blah blah turns out it was the box on my wall had gone nasty with age (like id been telling them all along line was also crackling badly duh)
im now cut off, long story short line wise but net still working for an apparant unpaid bill (id arranged with bt to cover dec bill in with jans bill due to the muck around) im yet to reiceve my jan bill to even pay it
ive now had enough of them over past few months, i move house next week n funnily enough bt is NOT moving with me, at the end of the day with mobiles, mobile broadband and better prices who needs them
lies from start to finish id still love to know how i entered into a new contract when it suited them and yet when i wanted to cancel full service (they wanted me to pay a fee for early cancellation !)
id been a customer for 3 years, never a late bill always paid by dd in full each month never quired anything etc, accepted they had made a mistake when i moved 2 years ago and they failed to connect my broadband for a few weeks
and this is how they treated me over the last 4 months, no applogy, no refund for the time without broadband, a saga to get a new router as my old one was now faulty and then a while to get someone to listen to me about it being my line as wellDebt free
