Orange Nokia Pay as You Go

Hi
My Mum needs a new phone - she wants to keep her number and contract that she has (she has a very very old contract with orange that is now discontinued and she just pays for the calls she makes - bit like pay as you go but not having to top up) She has usually just got my old handsets when I've upgraded but she likes a Nokia (simple to use) and I'm a Sony person now and know the change would take her a while to get used to!
Does anyone know anything about the Nokia 2730 on the Orange site? she currently has the Nokia 7250i which has done well it was my first contract phone about 6 years ago but the it keeps cutting out.
Would appreciate any feedback on Nokia phones up to £100 and with a camera would be good.
THanks

I think the 2730 is not as good as the 6303 which in turn is not as good as 6700.
I have just today received a cheap 1208 (for my brother) from prepaymania.co.uk for £9.99 with £5 credit included (free delivery) on T-mobile.
If you are not fussed too much about high speed internet, 3g etc etc, look for cheaper phones to replace the existing one. Prepaymania have some good offers on their site (first time I used them and pleasantly surprised with the service...so far).
The 6700 costs more than £100 so not an option on your budget. The 6303 is roughly £70 cheapest deal but you have to be check if phone is locked if buying on another network.0 -
Thanks, I think I'll pop into a shop and see the handset - basically only needs calls, text, camera and bluetooth (she keeps wittering on about it - but will never be needed!)0

6303 is probably the one you can get for under £100.
Personally on that same budget I would change to Sony and get the C510 coz it has all that your requirements and cybershot camera.
If you cant get them via Orange, you can usually pick an unlocked phone from another network on pay and go and use with the Orange sim-obviously you should check first its unlocked.0 -
Yeh I would change too but I know it'd take her a while to get used to it - her friend changed and hated the Sony and I know my Mum would be the same!0

The 2730 is actually a very good deal for the money. 3G and tri/quad band. Good battery life. I have had a succession of Nokia phones, and the 2730 is ok. The 5130 is also a good, cheap phone.
See Ebay for 2730s, by the way. I got mine from Vodafone shop with no contract or even PAYG sim for £50. But do be aware that many of the market guys don't have the unlock codes for the 2730 yet, so best get it for the right network.0 -

Thanks, think she'd want it from the orange shop or a similar shop rather than ebay - unlike me but its not my money!!0 -
JUst been to Tescos to look at the handsets and she has seen two she likes
Nokia 7100 and Nokia 2680
Has anyone got any advice on either?0 -

But has she seen the luverly c510 yet ! I know I know nokia only .....
....my brother has nokia 6303 on contract (he had the 6300 before) - and he seems to like it. The only drawback is its not 3g and his contract has internet enabled so a bit slow. Got him nokia 1208 to use with international calls sim card.(cheap calls etc).
I quite like the 1208 myself (simple basic phone no camera no gadgets apps and rubbish - just a phone) !0
