  • I found glass in aynsley Harriot cous cous about a year ago and took the product back to Somerfield and they couldn't have cared less. I certainly did not want anything from them I just wanted to point out that it could have been my one year old dd who had eaten it!!! It had not come form anywhere in my house either I opened the packet but it in a pan made it up and served it, no glass anywhere near!

I found a hair - a long black human (I can only guess) hair in my pickled ginger within a pack of Sushi from Tesco.

I posted the offending pack of hairy ginger back to Tesco's head office together with a copy of my receipt, I do not live near a tesco and a trip back 24 miles would have been a bit much to get a small refund.

I rather quickly received a full and frank apology with a promise to contact the supplier and I received a £10 voucher for my trouble.

I was rather pleased with this outcome, perhaps you should try something similar?

Tell the BBC, Sky.,ITV and best of all The Daily Mail; then watch daytime satellite TV for an hour and get all the 0800 phone numbers for the "compo" firms on there - shouldn't bother with MSE though, you'll just get silly sceptical comments on there !

Write and complain to head office. I've always found Tesco & M&S very helpful when I've need to complain about one of their products.

Very helpful? When i spoke to the person dealing with the matter(after two phone calls to head office,) and pointed out that a child could have choked on the offending article the only retort i got was "but it didn't ,did it"? as if that made everything ok.
I haven't stopped shopping at Tesco and i also haven't stopped buying their apple pies cos i like them! but I will definitely do things different if it happens again!

I've never bothered phoning and think it's easier to compose a calm and full comprehensive letter instead of talking to a member of their staff. Think emotions tend to run high when you're angry and this doesn't help any situation when you're making a complaint. I normally address my letters to The Manager,
    Customer Services.
  • When I was young I was eating a sainsburys frozen pizza for dinner. When I cut it up I noticed a hair inside the pizza base. My mum sent the pizza to sainsbury's head office with a letter explaining what had happened. She didn't expect anything she just wanted to let them know. After a couple of weeks she got a reply, including a gift voucher and an apology, and was informed that after extensive testing it was concluded that the hair was in fact a beard hair, and in the future they would ensure those with facial hair took extra safety precautions in the factory :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
