I don't know what the "rules" are, but I activated my phone 4 days ago by ringing my home phone and then hanging up. No credit. Then this morning after reading the thread I rang my home phone again and picked up to make a connection. Just switched the phone on and have had a text saying my £10 will be added within 48hrs :j0

Now received test stating:
We've given you 2 days of FREE mobile internet browsing, to say thanks for joining.Call 2710 free to get started0 -
i read in my local tesco about the chargeable call/text.Just as a follow-up to the above, both phones (bought on 18 January) have now received the 'free £10 credit' text after making a non-chargeable call yesterday evening.
No need to send a text or make a chargeable call - just phone your landline or another number and disconnect before it answers.
ITS EVEN BETTER (getting credit without making chargeable call/text.). :T
Thanks for the info.MSE IS AN ADDICTION0 -
I bought one of these phones in order to give to some foreign visitors due to arrive in a few weeks time - to arrange to collect them from train stations etc.Now received test stating:

I tried the sim card after reading these posts and discovered that I have got two useless days of internet roaming too. I had hoped for £10 free credit.0 -
Guys, could do with a bit of advice here.
I think i've thrown away the e-topup card (cant find it anywhere!) so does anyone know how I can activate the phone in order to get the free credit?

By trial & error I've discovered to get the free £10 credit, you MUST only use the sim in the phone supplied with it. Using the sim in another phone will result in getting the £10 credit in 48HRS text, but no credit.Next year we'll be millionaires!0

No problem - just make a call. That activates the SIM.
There's 20p credit on the SIM, but the person you're calling needn't even answer. I made unanswered calls to my landline on each of the two phones we bought, and the £10 free credit text arrived an hour later on one, and a few hours later on the other one.0 -
Tried that, never received the text or the credit
