    Hi

I have just sent a text, so I could donate £5 to the DEC / Haiti appeal.

    Before I donated I had a balance £10.20p

    After I donated I had a balance of 10p.

I am more than happy to donate £10, but have Tesco charged me £5, for the message I sent?

    Cheers

Ok, I have sorted this out.

Tesco have told me that they do not allow the use of "free" credits to donation lines like the DEC Haiti appeal line.

My balance has now returned to its original value

For me to donate, I need to top up with my own money.

    Well at least I know!

Odd - thanks for the follow up. I managed to donate with an older card (free credit) so maybe they changed it.

Because obviously you'd have to be crazy to decide to give £5 of Tesco massive profits to extremely needy people instead of allowing Tesco to just pay pence for £5 worth of airtime.

Appaling, Tesco. You should be ashamed.

very annoyed... bought phone today in southampton home store, then went to tower park in poole to return it... wouldn't let me return without receipt.. nor exchange, unless for similar value... nor even a giftcard, which is weird because i've had giftcards out of electrical returns before!

going to ring customer services in dundee tomorrow to ask them.
  • Tesco in Kettering still has the £15 phones if people are still interested. Picked one up about an hour or so ago.
