noticed tonight on my way home they were changing the sign, and the staff were putting banners up!Lets see what happens to my bank A+L later in the year, wonder if these branches close as here in London we sometimes have both on the same high street.

You should see Byres Road here in Glasgow, there's a Bradford and Bingley on one side of the road, an Abbey right across from that and then two or three shops down from Abbey there's an A+L.

Interestingly I noticed both the Bradford and Bingley and the Abbey branch had Temporary Signs up, despite being so close to each other.

I wont mourn the passing of this incarnation of abbey.

I still long for the days of the old Abbey National with the red and green logo of the couple under the square house roof shaped umbrella :(

    The name changes.

    The incompetence continues.

    Sadly so.

The name change is precisely because Abbey has the very worst reputation in its class and even Santander didn't think they could benefit from the brand name.

If they operate like Santander do in Spain, nothing will get any better, probably worse, if that is possible.
  • I left Abbey for A&L a few years back as Abbey had always been dreadful with customer service. Since Santander took over A&L (with whom I have a couple of different banking/savings accounts), they're getting much worse too.

I'm now looking to move away. I just hope they don't follow me again. :(
